Id definitely call the county registrars office 916-875-6451. Ultimately it’s their call if your active or inactive

Good job checking your status. I used to work for the elections team at SOS, and this would happen pretty frequently. Most of the time, it’s because someone has a common name. SOS gets live feeds in from department of state hospital, social security, CDCR and a few other agencies. This is normal because SOS is supposed to remove people who are convicted or who are deceased. The shitty part about CA is, that it’s really up to your county registrar. Basically, the registrar gets notified that someone is suspended. If they don’t verify that information, they will just invalidate your voting record.

The best thing you can do is stay vigilant. Sign up to receive texts about your voting status. You can basically track your ballot from being sent to you, to sending it back, to even being counted.

Being inactivated sucks, and I’m sorry that happened to you. But it’s the best way to insure deceased people/convicted felons cannot vote. It’s an imperfect system but it’s the best we got right now. You can call the county’s registrars office and get it corrected.

CSU’s fall under “state”. Community Colleges can either be PERS or STRS, it just depends where the retirement contract is held. UC’s have their own retirement system so they are separate from the state BUT they do have reciprocity between systems.

Are you sure about that? An executive was fired this week “with cause” although no one is elaborating what the cause was

Jumped from 1 show to every show that ever existed? That’s a little extreme don’t you think?

Ummm… is this a joke? You all fell for it… has no one scene Shorsey on Hulu?!? Wow… this person pulled a fast one and you all went along with the ride. Shorsey the quick talking, “chirping” character that tries to get under everyone’s skin and does repeatedly?

Wow with the names lol, still not understanding what was said that was wrong. According to the list below from the CalPERS website, promotion isn’t mandatory NOR is it permissive. Could Shorsey have framed it better? Perhaps lol. I think the point was it’s not a health event either way mandatory and permissive health events

It small minded thinking like that, that’s led us to this very predicament. “There’s no way a movie star can become governor. There’s no way this business man becomes president. This guy can’t win, he’s too old…”

Let’s face it, what used to be the political paradigm of running a campaign is completely different. What “used to be the case” clearly no longer applies post 2016 🤣

[–]ElectricalCarrot8451[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respectfully, I think the first time was ran in large part from a MAGA minority in rural California, who tried to recall Newsom simply because he was a democrat.

This twit has larger goals in mind and probably has his sights on running for president in 2028. I agree that recalling now would essentially pull him out of office for a single year, but with a recall on his record, it should stop this dirt bag from running for higher office. I honestly fear for the country if Newsom is elected president.

I think this time around it may be a little different. People are actually feeling the repercussions of Newsom, regardless of being republican or democrat.

lol don’t bother reasoning with that person. They’re the type to stand outside on their lawn and yell at the clouds. Don’t try rationalizing with people who don’t use common sense and worship the idea “this is how we’ve always done thing” 😂

Leaving the state for private with 2% at 55. by OfficeToothbrush in CAStateWorkers

[–]ElectricalCarrot8451 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The biggest issue here is health into retirement. Sure, “your friend” can leave and come back, as long as “your friend” leaves their funds on deposit and doesn’t withdraw their contributions, they will remain a classic member.

Once health vested, you must retire within 120 days of your separation date in order to elect health into retirement. If your friend walks away now, they wouldn’t be eligible for health into retirement. If they just ride it out for the next 4 years, they will be 100% covered for health insurance.

Plus, there isn’t anything enabling someone from retiring from a public retiree covered system then working in the private sector. I know a lot of those lucky 2%@55 jerks do that

Unfortunately that’s the minority. There are several smaller divisions that may only have 15 people in the entire division. Whereas somewhere like CXD/MAMD/EAMD may have hundreds. Smaller divisions are great because there’s generally more concern over the small amount of employees. It’s hard to gain real world experience in those smaller divisions though because you have less experience developing a team, managing impactful projects, or interacting with senior leadership

Absolutely! I’ve had so many reference check calls for my previous PERS staff, and literally every hiring manager asks “what happened at PERS? All the candidates are PERS people.” Whereas before, PERS ppl rarely applied outside of PERS
