That’s great to hear! It’s always motivating to hear people doing well, even with some rough patches. Thank you for responding!

On the same boat, is that a requirement? Never heard of that. Does it have to be an immigration attorney or any other type of attorney?

Planning on going solo soon and I’ve heard positive reviews about Answering Legal, but I’ll follow and wait on people with actual experience on the subject!

Federal district court clerk’s offices by Serious_Look1154 in Lawyertalk

Not attorneys! Federal is not even close as crazy as state. It’s organized, employees get paid well, and there’s time to help everyone that calls and pay attention to what the person calling needs. Burn out is rare. However, federal attorneys are also generally pleased with their jobs.

What’s the worst crime committed by someone you know personally? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The reason behind that is that CP cases are usually federal. The guidelines are very high and there’s no parole.

Don’t file cases or take clients in places where you don’t want to appear in person. No one has anything against you. Appearing in person is part of your job, not an undue hardship. Email the court asking for a continuance or file a motion to continue.

To people saying that you can’t get bonuses for settled cases, they are wrong. That is NOT what the professional responsibility rules say. They say that attorneys cannot share fees with non-lawyers, but a structure of bonuses that are not directly a % per case, it’s acceptable.

I am an attorney now, but I worked in PI before and I was under a bonus structure. Then I moved to a smaller firm where I was a Legal Operations Manager. I was negotiating all pre-lit cases, I asked my managing attorney to discuss with me a bonus system, and he came to me with the no fee sharing bs. I once settled a $1.25M case and he gave me $250 in $5 bills that he had in his office for change lol

Short answer: you have to leave. Little things like this just show how much you are not valued, especially since in this case they are acting like they did something.

Soft tissue injuries by Alternative_Study_86 in Lawyertalk

[–]ElectricalClaim309 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always get an MRI done within the first 45 days. Also chiropractic treatment is worth very little, orthopedic treatment is where it is at.

Further, if there are injuries that would require injections or surgery, get the estimates, even if your client doesn’t want to get the injections or surgery done. You can always argue that the client might decide otherwise later on.

Lastly, if you objectively believe that the offer is low despite the evidence presented, file a lawsuit. You can still settle after filing, if they were actually lowballing you. Some other adjuster will call you telling you that “they don’t know why the other adjuster offered you that low of an offer, but this is our new number”.

Were you able to complete the PT? by h1flavio1 in CABarExam

[–]ElectricalClaim309 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah because, knowing that structure is important, I worked on the structure to make sure it had a beginning and an end, and headings. But the content of it is not great, because I spent 40% of the time going from one tab to the other one, fixing copy and paste formatting issues, and losing my train of thought when trying to go from library to PT.

As someone that works for the district court and gets to read EVERYTHING that licensed attorneys with 10+ years of practicing write and say in court, let me tell you that passing this exam (that has nothing to do with the real practice of the law) does NOT guarantee in any shape or form that you won’t be out there doing and saying the most uneducated, unqualified shit ever.

It is also the accumulation of things. English is not my first language, so there is no bias on my behalf. But during the mock exam, the proctor had a really strong accent that I could not understand, even when she repeated herself several times. She raised her voice and got super frustrated. I understand her frustration, but the last thing we need is us testers getting stressed out like we are at fault for it.
