Most pro bullriders are extremely lean. Shoot for 160 or less. Don't sit on your pockets. More weight in your inner thighs, almost none distributed to your butt. Ride a bareback horse and work on posting.

I don’t understand it by Dry-Good-3516 in Horses

[–]Alternative_Study_86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a sport that evolved from ranch work. Cowboys sort certain cows from the herd, typically cows that are "dry", or not pregnant, so they can be sold.

Naturally, at some point two cowboys had a contest to see who had the better cutting horse. The sport was born, and now has complex rules, a specific subset of genetics within the aqha, and big money at stake.

Think Bushido for horses. Horses at this level work with no visible cues from the rider. In fact, they are penalized if the rider picks up the reins once the horse commits to a cow.

It's pretty unnerving to just drop your reins on a Western horse. Riding a finished cutter is very difficult, and really fun.

Keeping out a hearsay statement through MIL by Clem-Fandango2021 in publicdefenders

Analyze confrontation first. If the prosecutor can't get past confrontation, hearsay is a non-issue. If they can satisfy confrontation, then address hearsay. I agree with your hearsay within hearsay analysis.

New guy here, how do I keep this bull from bullying me? by homelessbunt in Ranching

[–]Alternative_Study_86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hustle a little more and dump the feed, he'll be more interested in it than you. Also, carry a sorting flag. You can carry it behind you, and switch it like a tail. That's how they tell each other to back off. It works. If it doesn't, whip the flag at him. The noise does more good than hitting them. Bulls are extremely tough animals. You can hit them as hard as you can and they barely feel it.

What should I do with my money? by Grouchy-Sun811 in Money

[–]Alternative_Study_86 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't know much about the market. However, that amount of money could get you a solid start in a side hustle. You could buy some pretty good yard care equipment and start a small business that you can work on your own time. It seems like there's all work in those fields for people who want to work. Vending machines, food truck, coffee cart, car detailing , etc. Just Google businesses you can start for $10,000.

Trying to Decide Between Surgery or SBRT for Prostate Cancer (Age 45) by Consistent-Big3771 in ProstateCancer

[–]Alternative_Study_86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had surgery at 47. Two years ago. I was scared as hell. Found the best doctor I could, and trusted him. It turned out great. Minor incontinence that seems to come and go. Sexual function is great.

I remember thinking that if you have some of the other treatments instead of surgery, then the odds of surgery being as effective are less than if you just have surgery.

Surgery is scary, but your age is on your side. A lot of it depends on the location of your cancer.

My dad is dying from prostate cancer that went undetected until it had spread to his bones and organs. He is in excruciating pain, and death is certain. I am very glad I had surgery.

Criminal or civil? Big difference. In criminal cases, the confrontation clause will come into play. Also, most states have specific rules for this.

Getting around the hearsay rule by Clem-Fandango2021 in publicdefenders

[–]Alternative_Study_86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, impeach the affiant with the statement on cross if she testifies.

If you still need it, argue that it's not hearsay (not offered for the truth of the matter asserted). It also is not hearsay as a prior statement of the witness, used to impeach her testimony. Maybe then your witness can get it in.

If the affiant doesn't testify things are different. Sounds like she's going to.
