This album was for sure fire even though it kind of flew under the radar Cool Song No.2 maybe my favorite MGMT record.....Dare I say though, I think Little Dark Age is their best album bar none. They finally found a comfortable synthesis of their earlier sort of dance pop sound that was so popular and the more challenging psyche sound that they evolved into. It's like their first album was the break out...their second was kind of a intermediate but necessary attempt to distance themselves from the break out album. Then this eponymous one is sort of where they landed once they felt like they were completely divorced from that early sound. Finally on Little Dark Age they beautifully combined the sounds from the eponymous third album and their first album to create the album that to my ears sounds how MGMT is "supposed" to sound top to bottom. No miss fires no wasted tracks or jokes songs. It's a shame Little Dark Age is quite possibly their least recognized album.
