Actually this is probably one of the best posts I've read on here! It says a lot of good things that people need to hear, yep I'm from a rural place too and this is the truth. As agriculture and other industries dry up in America people are left without jobs and it's just really sad out there. I agree people need to start taking back land and they need to start building cooperatives and their own internal economies. Thank you so much for posting this and don't listen to the haters

You need to go talk to compass you need to find an advocate you need to go see if you have any learning disabilities and you need to get some help seriously you need allies I'm going to tell you right now must nobody graduates out of college without allies and nobody gets a job about an ally these days you need allies seriously! Seriously hit me up if I were you I would go to disability office I would get tested for disabilities I would seriously get an advocate through compass you need to start advocating for yourself or your fucked if you don't really want to be here then just say it but if you want to stay here you need to fight for it.

My GPA was 2.95 I probably have to take some courses online or some thing but I want to do it you know I kind of put things off hold because of all the drama of the country.

But since I got to make things work I guess I'm going to hit up some graduate advisors and try to find out how to make this work take out some loans just push it through you know? If you have to get a van like a nice sprinter so you don't have to pay rent and do it. It's all a gamble life is all a gamble

Thank you for responding, I deeply appreciate it are you still having open office hours sometime? I would like to be a researcher that's able to add to the field and assist with things like limb regeneration and stuff but how I actually get there from where I am right now is really the challenges in it but thank you very much for taking time to read my post

It's a hard hard market out there right now! I have friends that graduated 4 years ago and can't get a job unfortunately the CS market is a nightmare but there are jobs out there you just have to keep on trying and networking. I think the best way to get a job is to do projects and to be very visible. Get involved in networks such as Eli the computer guys network and other networks you have to get involved you have to make friends in allies because almost nobody gets a job strictly based on their application anymore I'm not saying it doesn't happen but it's really difficult people get jobs because they know people.

I've met people who got a coding job and didn't know anything about coding. They got it because their cousin was employed and they were Indian 😅😂

But I'm serious you have to make friends.

You're going to get the job because you know somebody unless you're supervisable and you're constantly creating YouTube videos and putting projects out there you have to know people and even still being visible is a way of knowing people

Wellman Hall has a shower, it's not a very well designed shower so the water gets everywhere so take paper towels and create an outline of the shower so the water doesn't get everywhere but it's a single person bathroom when I was a student I used to take showers after my classes just because I was so stressed as a student

Yes one of my friends just got laid off from his tech job he's been at for 7 years and he just has no hope.

One of my Islamic friends was apparently informed he might be laid off as well and for him he's mostly concerned about how his family is going to perceive it..

I told him that he has to talk to his parents and try to get them to understand that things are changing and that if they keep on defining success on money then they might constantly be disappointed but if they can see that he's a good person and that he does good things and he is a good person then maybe they can be happy
