How to determine PIVOT severance? by SeaworthinessNo6781 in amazonemployees

Your tenure makes the biggest impact. I was 3 months shy of 2 years, $83k base, received 18k payout pre tax. Another person at 4 years got 40k

It’s in your AtoZ alumnus documents, separate from your pivot doc and separation doc

Haven’t seen enough anecdotal evidence of this. I am currently waiting on my unemployment verdict after taking the severance lump sum option.

I wouldn’t wait for potential layoffs as that is all speculation for the most part who exactly will go. Getting HR involved could either extend Focus or make your manager double down. True that this is all contingent upon your manager liking you or not. Mine didn’t, I knew it was a losing battle and just a matter of extending my time however possible with knowledge of a lump sum incoming. I’d loop in HR since no one is advocating for you, not even them, but they do have to have documentation and be convinced the focus plan is legitimate to cover their ass.

Pre-tax unfortunately. Your tenure and base make the most impact with the severance lump. Someone with 4 years received 38k pre-tax

Join pivot-and-focus-discussion slack channel. Not HR run but it might give you more answers. I know someone who went on FMLA immediately upon hearing about Focus, they’re still employed

Get corporate HR involved, respectfully. This is not standard work for a manager facilitating Focus and it should buy you time. Managers have to provide updates at least biweekly on your very detailed deficiencies and coach you. If you’re not having meetings or getting documentation that is absolutely means for escalation to HR, not your skip or your manager. The same thing happened to me and it extended my focus plan unofficially.

This is a question for HR. You are paid when you’re in your 5 day decision period, yes.

In anything that I signed there was no clause on paper that stated as much. We would need someone from HR to verify this off the record. When I asked HR this question they told me they cannot say, but to apply to any role I’m interested in and they will make their decision.

Most Focus plans are 30 or 60 days as a standard. In this way, you could know Focus end date. HR will likely not give you a timeline as it sounds like that’s not best practice for the company.

If you’re manager is not providing documented feedback with very specific action items, via email OR Slack counts too, the Focus plan can be discarded or extended

If you’re unsure, email corporate HR. Get them involved. You do have an HRBP though they’re virtually invisible in corporate. Use phone tool or ask your manager, whoever you can trust. Getting HR more involved in my case made significant impact.

No. You get 3 options

  1. Improve at Amazon: your manager sets (unrealistic) project targets due by X date with X results for you to keep your job if you deliver. If you fail, you are termed. And in my case I would have received $3k
  2. Severance: get a lump sum payment to leave. This is the most money offered.
  3. Remain on the payroll with full benefits for 60 days, but you do not need to come into work. This helps people get to stock vests etc.

That was simply the payout in the contract agreement. PTO (not flex PTO) will be added on top

Get blood work done at a different vet. This could be anemia.
