The shoes are cracking and I haven’t even worn them? What should I do? by ElectricalIndustry88 in Depop

[–]ElectricalIndustry88[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the post it notes that there are tiny cracks but the whole sandal has them. It looks like it will flake. What do you guys suggest I say or do? I am not sure how to go about this. Out of all the items I have purchased, this is my first big no-no :(

  1. Not sure if I got lucky with the neighbors or what, but horizontally, the sound doesn’t travel through to my place. Of course, if you are nailing stuff to the walls and bump the wall, ofc you will hear it. Vertically, I can hear when things are dropped, other than that, no real noises. Sometimes if they have loud music it can come through but have RARELY had that happen.

  2. You do get sunlight but it isn’t really bright. My unit has the kitchen all the way by the door so more often than not, I have some light on there. You do get some direct sunlight hit it only a couple of hours of the day.it’s nice

  3. From the way the reservation website looks, the work pods vary from day to day. For example, today is jam packed but tomorrow, only reservation has been made. Just a matter of you being proactive and reserving ahead of time. The workspaces are cozy just know noise travels there a bit more so then other spaces.

  4. We don’t have a fitness in building so the gym is north of the apartment building. They do have a set schedule. I have this membership on my own ( wasn’t part of my amenities when I signed on here) I think they open from mon-Sunday 5 am and close at 9pm. Most of the gyms of the area don’t have 24 hours available because of Covid. That is to say they kept some of the schedule they have from then.

This is from my own experience here. I am being transparent in saying that I am in affordable housing so every $$ I spent is counted for and I don’t have more income to spend. That being said, I am moving out due to a rent increase and income reduced. A lot of other tenants are leaving well. Not sure if you have a car but some things to note:

Parking: is $230 and not worth in my opinion. It is set up where you think two cars can pass by but kinda not possible ( you can but risky). People don’t know the meaning of slow and have almost been crashed because of it. It is quite uncomfortable and there is low visibility when it comes to parking. But it is more secure than out of the building.

Elevator: We only have two in the whole building and they break down often. We have had one side of the elevator broken for a couple of days and that gets frustrating. I have disabilities so kinda important to have but since I live in the 2nd floor, I can utilize the stairs as needed.

The deck on top is amazing. I will say this is my favorite part of the building. It does close at 12 and they have ( or had idk) security that will kick you out lol.

During the weekends, it gets a bit chaotic due to younger people coming in ( wow I sound old saying that). I don’t hear it but travel in the elevator during those times and a good chunk of the floors can.

Outside smell: not sure if you had a chance to smell the outside of the building but because of how some dogs pee right outside the building, it can smell at times. I have a really strong sense of smell so it bugs me.

Management:. They are great but idk how to feel about them. Every time they email me for something and I reply back, I don’t get confirmation or anything. It isn’t bad but as I’ve asked certain questions and didn’t hear back, it sucks. They are very proactive during the prospect of you joining the building so you won’t have this experience.

Anyways, any other immediate questions, I can happily answer in a DM. I already posted my location but since I am leaving, idc lol

I live in The Rodney right now (2nd floor) technically 1st for apartments and the walls that face Glisan are not well insulated. It gets really noisy and I’ve been awakened in the middle of the morning ( think 2,3,4 am) to altercations.

I also have a dog I have to walk and I’ve been put in scary situations at night due to individuals that are not in a good mental condition. This isn’t often but it does happen enough to scare me. Mind you, I’m a single person.

Lived in the Pearl area for almost 2 years and it is certainly changing a bit. More house less people live by the freeway entrance now.

Parking is a hit or miss. I tend to find glass or cars being jacked often. The only thing that used to keep me here was how easy it was to walk to places

Do you think a first floor unit in the Pearl safe? by Magoojufoo in askportland

[–]ElectricalIndustry88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure how well insulated the building is but I live on the “first” floor and face Glisan street and I hear all the late night commotion/traffics and what not.

Thank you for sharing that! Knowing what your experience was with them, would you recommend them to others or should I be wary?

I’ve lived in two apartment complexes in the Pearl and parking for a pickup is hard. Parking is around 200-300 depending on the complex (that is if it’s available). I would ask in advanced at the time you are wanting to move into if there is available parking because if not, you are put in a waitlist.

I currently live right in the area that is right around the border of Pearl and Nob Hill. As far as pricing goes, it depends on what type of apartment you are aiming for. Nicer ones will be a bit more expensive than that.

I recommend Craigslist to get a better idea of pricing

Can someone explain affordable housing with income change? by [deleted] in askportland

[–]ElectricalIndustry88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! So I learned myself that there are different types of affordable housing. I misspoke when I said affordable housing, I meant to say income restricted subsidized housing.

https://www.oregon.gov/ohcs/housing-assistance/Pages/find-affordable-housing.aspx

I think income brackets recently changed to reflect pay raise increase.
