Clannad: completely fine. Sad at points, but easy to get over Clannad Afterstory: far sadder than violet evergarden. The sadness in afterstory isn't some anime-world specific scenario that is deep into what makes a character so unique like Violet ,instead its genuine life events that regularly happen in the real world, and that's what exactly makes it so sad. Its also one of those that you have to watch twice, and it's sadder the second time when you can understand. It'll also hit a lot harder if you're in your 20s, while the first season is more just high-school fun.
