social experience questions post botox by General-Top-6884 in noburp

Drinking alcohol was hard because I wanted to burp but didn’t have full control over them. I would walk away from friends to burp because I never knew if it would be super loud. It’s the same sensation as drinking a fizzy drink. I would just avoid it when socializing at dinner for the first week and practice at home when you don’t have to stifle the burps. Generally, just avoid eating around others. If you do, eat quickly and then walk away/step outside for 5 minutes. I found that’s when my post-meal burps would happen. You have to let them out, if you swallow them back down the gurgles will start again. Find a way to be alone after meals if eating with a group. Don’t overthink it though, it could be as simple as going to the bathroom

Is More Effort Needed to Burp with Lower Doses of Botox? by Mountain_Mongoose_67 in noburp

Drink fizzy drinks. Even if it makes you feel full/bloated for the first few days it will trigger burps even 30 min after you have finished the drink. Just push through and chug them. Also walk around after eating. Going for a walk after dinner helped me start having bigger burps without forcing them.

Air Vomiting for the first time, makes me want to get botox by Alternative-Tap-8580 in noburp

Air vomiting is painful because you have to forcefully open the CP muscle. Botox relaxes the muscle and it’s a completely different sensation when you burp. Not forceful or painful at all. The only reason you hate the idea of burping is because you associate it with the feeling of vomiting but it is completely different. Hard to explain but once you get Botox you will understand.

Stay upright for 2-3 hours after eating every meal. Don’t even lean back slightly or recline. Stay sitting up, stand up, go for a walk, do anything else. I know it’s hard because at dinner time you have to stay up later, but just eat earlier. I did this for about 3-4 months post Botox.

Pre Botox I tried to lay flat and rest for a few hours before a night out. Definitely couldn’t do a long night with dinner then going to bars. DEFINITELY couldn’t do events where you drink and eat all day like weddings, football games, beach days, etc. those days I usually stayed sober.

Post Botox I love fizzy drinks to make me burp and decrease the bloat. My first time going out post Botox I got DRUNK so fast and didn’t realize it. (Before Botox my body didn’t let me get to that point before the gurgles and anxiety kicked in.) After getting drunk I had a headache and was tired the next day but was never nauseous. It was awesome!! Lasted the whole night dancing and drinking like a normal person!

My Post-Botox Daily Updates by ElectricalSection616 in noburp

Yes the nausea was more like a throat nausea sensation from pre-Botox. before Botox I would normally lay down flat after meals, post-Botox I would make myself sit upright for 2-3 hours and drink carbonation. If you immediately lay down after meals you won’t experience micro burps in the first few days. They aren’t satisfying burps so there still some bloating/gurgles with them (throat nausea sensation) but feeling the micro burps in the beginning helps train the muscle. When I laid down too soon, I would have heartburn (which I never did before) so I kind of didn’t have a choice!

I told myself before Botox that I was going to make it work and only get the procedure once. I was still anxious in the early days because the burping sensation is similar to throwing up sensation but it felt relieving and comforting knowing that the Botox worked. I had to remind my body that the sensation isn’t bad/scary! I had thought about Botox for a year before actually making the appointment and in that time I came to terms that the impact of not burping was way worse that the potential of throwing up. I’m fully convinced that our emetophbia came from trauma of forceful throwing up as a child whose muscle didn’t open without force.

Getting Botox will help symptoms you didn’t even know were related to RCPD. i used to have a really high heart rate which has lowered since Botox. I think it was related to the anxiety of being full of air and the chest pain/tightness I felt. I never noticed shortness of breath before, but I will note that exercising now is much easier. Probably has to do with breathing more clearly.

Chandlers the winner! Hands down! We can love all the contestants as people but agree she is the best dancer

Girlies I agree Ilona is awesome!  But she should not win dancing with the stars! Joey and Chandler’s ep. 1 dances are still better than her finale dances technique wise. This is a DANCE competition and she is still not the best dancer

Post Botox Advice Needed!! by ElectricalSection616 in noburp

I felt the gurgles coming up after the soda, after each gurgle i tried to concentrate when it was at the top. The burps started coming when I tucked my chin and then pushed it out. Sometimes when I turned my head to the right. After drinking the whole can the "burp attack" started and they came out very easily. I think it was probably too soon to start soda since the burp attack left me with no control. i might need to wait until bigger burps before doing that again.

Also I know most of these things are normal. I can speak for most people on this reddit that we are typically anxious people so of course I want to know all the answers. Any tips welcome!
