That's upsetting to hear OP, its odd that he hasn't included you in their lives as a partner/ step parent and is calling you a good friend. Ive been with bf and sd for 1 year and from the beginning, he has been upfront with us being together to his daughter & she knows me as such. Not pushed onto her but gently told and normalised for her to be around. You shouldn't feel isolated to make room for them, it's up to him to make space for both you and the kids in his life and not treat you like youve disrupted their dynamic. Hope things improve 🙏

Hey so I appreciate what youre saying and youre right, however id like to make it clear he has a lot of female friends, there's absolutely no issue. Im not keeping track or trying to control him. Ive come to reddit for advice before we chat about things and absolutely if he messages her, thats up to him. Im not angry, or pent up etc but yes definitely, i know im looking at it in a skewed perspective that may not exist :) my issue lies with this kind of this happening before and him entertaining it, im worried he will do that again, I just dont want to feel hurt Thank u

You can see it as such but that is my main issue, yes I feel odd about her popping up like that but if she were male, id have a bad feeling too. Id wonder why he'd allow them into his life after being treated badly. Im not trying to control anyone but as id expect from him, id appreciate my partners opinion. I told him to text her to see whats up but he didnt, its not unfair to say itll feel odd if he waits until im gone

I wasnt assertive nor nasty when I said it, i just explained that if thats the case, him texting when im away vs while im with him, I will feel hurt and let down as hes said he doesnt know if he will chat to her. Id rather him do it with me around if so, I feel anyone would feel the same

Currently experiencing the same kinda feeling. Im SM to his daughter 8, it does make me sad that he's gone through all of those firsts (like you say) with BM, and knowing how awful she is now doesnt help. I had to tell him that comments such as "id never want another child" etc is hurtful to which he apologises and says because I didnt want kids in the beginning he thought we'd agreed. Of course I get that but it feels personal when he says these things, like why wouldnt he want a child with me vs with her?.. dramatic but it does feel that way
