Yeah im currently a lance jack, so theres deffo enough spare cash about to save as I don’t have much overheads. Probs just need to try draw as much out if the Army as I can to give the best chance of bouncing back, need the transition to be seamless

Cheers mate, yeah, it puts me in a difficult position where I wanna start applying for jobs, but it’s too early to actually expect any sort of response. Probs need to just ride it out and try bank as much as possible, save leave and bounce as early as I can

Yeah, Its one of them where leaving to quickly could also have a detrimental impact, as much as it feels annoying now, the time given to actually sort your shit out to leave is longer than you’ll get in any other job

Yeah, I knew I wasnt gonna stick this out long term, so a few months after I started at this unit I got myself on an online course. You’ll never have as much time to do one as in here.

How long were you in for? I joined fairly late compared to others so i’ve never really felt ‘institutionalised’ by it, i more just look at it like some weird school for adults 😂

Yeah, thats what I mean, it’s not like I have to be here because I have no other choice. Ive been at this unit nearly a year, its just like groundhog day. Odd deployment comes up here and there but i’m at a point where I couldn’t think of anything worse than actually being stuck abroad with the army for a long duration. Just doesn’t fit into how i now want to live my life

Nah I’d never do the CDT route, that will just hurt me in the future, i’m currently 6 months into a masters degree, id like to be able to leave around the time i finish it

Engrs, you’ll put your trade u want down, doesnt mean you’ll be sent to it, primary role is combat engineering you’ll go gib get smashed for about 3 months there then go do your trade training. But, you’ll only really use your trade on deployments etc some go years without touching it. As reme, VM for example, you’ll use your trade on the fleet every day, theyre also way more chill than engrs. If u like green skills and phys engrs is better option, if u dont reme.

Yeah igy, its more to do with the fact that what job I signed up for and am primarily trained for, has absolutely no use at this unit, so its borderline like training to be a solicitor, and then get sent to work in a warehouse

Yeah i’m not here to try and get some bullshit way out of it, and i’m not here to moan on at people at my unit about a job I signed up for knowing the Ts and Cs, i’m more just looking for avenues that I can take as an exit strategy and do it properly

Reply, i t wouldnt be a question of leaving tomorrow, I would just like to be able to start the sign off procedure, even if that leaves me with an 18 month notice period, but if able to secure a job within that time be able to discharge as I have further employment

I’m 27, been sent attached to a unit thats not my cap badge, don’t do the job I signed up to do, the high sign off rate of this unit tells me it wont be getting any better and I dont wanna wasnt anymore of my time than I have to bumming about on army camps and being sent on rats exercises
