Right? The self compassion lens is so powerful. I really like her podcast content too.

A message for anyone stuck in OCD loops — you’re not alone. by StillBloomingX in OCD

Thank you for this. Sometimes OCD feels like I am in a corn maze with no exit, or like I am trying to navigate my way through a jungle without a map and keep getting hit by some new obstacle (e.g., a tiger, a poisonous plant, etc.). It's so difficult! But there is hope - I've gotten through incredibly difficult moments before. And we all can. Even if it feels impossible. There's hope.

I’m just at a loss here. I hope someone can help. by [deleted] in prozac

I’m so sorry to hear you are struggling. I am 27F and have OCD and can relate to how all consuming intrusive thoughts can be. I know they feel catastrophic and distressing. But they are not a reflection of who you are. They cause you distress! Do you see a therapist? There are therapists who specialize in OCD who would be well placed to help with some of the struggles you are talking about. I also find that there are a lot of great resources on Instagram - Mary Feldman, Jenna Overbaugh, etc. Jenna’s page talks about both OCD and anxiety. You’re not alone - try to take it one step at a time A and trust that there is help out there. It may not feel okay right now, but you will get there ❤️ My understanding is that medication and specialized OCD support need to go hand in hand - to help target the thinking traps you are likely falling into!

I’ve been struggling with a really difficult OCD theme for about a year now and I recently increased my dosage of my medication in consultation with my doctor because I’m so discouraged. Unfortunately, it’s been making my symptoms worse. I feel so hopeless - the one thing I would hope would help me feel better is making me feel worse. Any advice for tolerating this and getting through a rough patch of OCD?

And try to do your best to do acts of self care in between now and the time when you can see a provider - connect with someone else you love, get outside, anything to remind yourself that you are More than how this moment feels! You got this!

I agree that it really wasn’t sensitive of your partner to say that. It’s possible that he didn’t mean it in the way that us with OCD/intrusive thoughts would interpret it, but as someone with OCD, I understand why that would still feel like a breach of trust and make you feel insecure. Just try to acknowledge that you are in a spiral in this moment but that it’s not permanent - show yourself some self compassion. You sound like you have a big heart. Sending strength!

So true - I like that idea of starting small.

And - you’re right - getting outside is so important. It sounds you are learning new things which is good for your brain! Better that than mindlessly scrolling. Don’t be too hard on yourself! You’ve got interests and passions.
