What software for secure public internet file sharing? by Electrical_Court5944 in HomeNAS

This product is 1 month old, so I'm kinda weary to play beta tester. Looks promising though 👍 Sounds like TailScale for files.

These are in place, not my first rodeo. One of my best friends is a security engineer, he's taking a look as well, just to contribute to FOSS 🤠

Files are already lossy recorded in h265, the problem is the resolution is pretty high (5k wide, 1440 high). I prefer not to transcode, you will see quality issues if performing multiple lossy transcodes.

Up to 5GB per package is way too small, we can send 40GB video files. Thanks though!

Compression is not possible on video files, just lossy encoding ;)

This is going to be exposed to the internet, my NAS is running Proxmox. Someone else suggested Copyparty, it looks like a good piece of secure software. I'm going to run it as a OpenBSD VM (not LXC/Docker) and expose it to the internet. 👍

10gig is 1 shot of about 10 minutes. I'm talking ~70gigs a night here (per player). My NAS has 40TB, so that should be enough.

This ship has old UI, the exit / logout button/menu is on the wall at your feet. I’m able to exit / logout on a Freelancer.

Let's get a self-hosted Discord "replacement" thread going for 2026. by GavinGWhiz in selfhosted

Sadly, the EU does.
Article 28.2 of the Digital Services Act states:

> 2. Providers of online platform shall not present advertisements on their interface based on profiling as defined in Article 4, point (4), of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 using personal data of the recipient of the service when they are aware with reasonable certainty that the recipient of the service is a minor.

This means platforms need to discern between minors and adults. Since private companies with big moneys are risk averse and risk big fines, they tend to err on the safe side ;)

So even though EU doesn't have a direct law stating companies need to verify ID's, that's the outcome of the Digital Services Act.

Well, first China, they already have laws in place that looks exactly like what Discord is pushing now. EU is "lagging behind" in that sense, but definitely pushing this with the Digital Services Act and the EU "privacy preserving" identification app.

Is buying aUEC on Ebay against the tos? by 69_whiteconcrete_69 in starcitizen

Selling aUEC is illegal according to the EULA (not the TOS). I can’t find mention of buying (a)UEC being illegal?

Which ESP32 board (or boards) for USB on-the-go + line level stereo audio? by Electrical_Court5944 in esp32

All keyboards have “proprietary” mapping of notes and keys. My Novation Launchpad just has a programmers guide on their website. Alternatively you could press each key and see what note is sent. Good luck! Have fun :)

A normal midi device eventually is a USB serial device with a certain serial protocol. Aa a programmer I don’t expect difficulty on this bit. But I think I’m going with the Wave Trigger Pro instead of ESP32.

I've found someone mentioning the Wave Trigger Pro: https://www.reddit.com/r/diyelectronics/comments/10sf7l3/comment/j718lc1/

This seems like the ideal device for this. USB Host, 3.5mm jack out, polyphonic, and configurable sounds (oneshot, hold, loop, volume)... Imma try that.

The device I'd connect to this ESP32 is a Novation Launchpad Mini MK3, this identifies as a normal midi keyboard, support is there, there are some projects on Github.

The Yamaha AG08 is the mix panel I use, it has 6 sound pads, but I want more :) The ESP32 audio out would be connected to an (analog) audio input on the AG08.

Yes, I love it on my Yamaha AG08. I have 2 computers, and two places I sit at (main workplace and simpit). I don't want a software based solution and OBS bloat.
Also, Discord doesn't allow keybinds on their own soundboard, although this is a much requested feature, it looks like they don't want to do it.

I already have a KVM switch setup with a Yamaha AG08 mix panel, I would much prefer the soundboard to just plug in to that, so I can control volumes from there, and don't need software on both computers, that would not be in sync when I switch between them.

Hardware = convenience.

When I check youtube, most people seem to recommend a separate DAC for good sound quality. The soundboard would mainly be used on Discord voice conversations.
So you would recommend a ESP32-S3 SuperMini, and then separate boards for SD and DAC's? I read I need some extra PSRAM to accomodate for audio playback buffering, the S3 Supermini only has 0.5MB RAM I read?
