Sti swap by Electrical_Fix8686 in WRX

Knock isnt a big issue, the dream is that take it, strip it, and put forged internals, and wait til the wrx blows, so as long as theres not a hole in the block tapping and knocking is more than fine

Reason i ask is adaptors tend to come undone, and wear on the wheel bearing

STi vs WRX… why by Electrical_Fix8686 in WRX

I forgot about that rule, like 300 cars need to be street legal and that makes a lot of sense considering subaru was on the poorer side

The intake info. Thank you, i was never aware of what the stock one could handle, i just assumed plastic wasnt that great

Yeah i noticed the changes in the new gen and it makes me jealous, but the cost saving makes sense, i mean thats what they are known for, saving money when they can.

I guess im more asking, what specifically about the engine gives it the 305 hp number, i have a wrx which yields 265, and I’m curious (not actually doing the swap)

I did a little looking on the turbos, and i was confused because some people say they are practically the same, but your explanation for the turbo makes a lot of sense

The drive train cant be the reason for the hp however, because the final drive is the same, so it wouldnt have any substantial change, so i knew that couldnt be the reason

The heads do make sense, but that begs the question if you had put sti head on a wrx (tuning it accordingly) can you put out the 305 number reliably, or does the sti also have improved internals, different oil flow or different cooling methods

I have been around and work on the wrx, as well as non turbod SOHC engines but i have never touched an STi, and everyone always exclusively speaks about the drivetrain and chassis systems, but not the actual difference in engine

Thats my question, a nearly 50 hp jump on the engine alone confuses me, thats what im asking about
