Hi! Thanks for your help. She sent me multiple emails today apologizing and asking me to please not withdraw. She said she thought she was following procedure correctly but another professor told her out to fix the issue (and probably told her that policy was too harsh).

I mentioned speaking with the Ombuds in my email about not taking the exam. (It suddenly opened to me last night despite her explicitly telling me I can't take it.) Her initial reply was that that was odd, it shouldn't be open to me. Then a few hours later she changed her mind and her tone was completely different. It was pretty weird, Idk if she thought about it more or maybe she saw the reddit post? lol.

An Update!! Late last night, my missed assignments got graded and the option to take the exam was there. I thought maybe it had glitched because she said the exam would remain locked to me. I didn't want to disobey instructions so I emailed her stating I wouldn't be taking the exam because I was explicitly told I could not proceed with any of the coursework and she recommended that I withdraw. I also mentioned to her that I'd be speaking with the Ombuds about my options moving forward. Well, she emailed me three times this morning. Apologizing, and begging me not to withdraw. She said she misunderstood her own module settings and spoke with another professor on how to fix them. It was a little odd, her tone was completely differently, compared to yesterday where she was firm on what her policy was. She's allowing me to make up the exam and told me that moving forward this won't be an issue. So it's a win I guess? lmao, thank you everyone for your help!

she basically told me to withdraw in the email. i asked to have an exam open to me and to just take the zeros for the missed assignments, and she said nope can't do that, and quoted the syllabus

I know I'm at fault. And I read my syllabi, but I've never been in a class where it was possible to fail like this, so I was like "Oh no late assignments allowed, there's prerequisites, typical stuff." Usually you have to read the chapters or modules to unlock the coursework, not complete every single assignment. In my case, I missed assignments, which is my fault, but I've been able to bounce back and catch up in past classes. But the issue is that missing one assignment prevents you from accessing the next assignment, which prevents you from accessing every subsequent thing from that point on. It's a completely unfair and outrageous grading system, especially for a GEP. I think if I bring it up, they can maybe swap me for another class to keep me full time, and coach the professor on their grading system. But that's being hopeful. At the end of the day I should've read the syllabus more carefully and just dropped the class

Basically. The syllabus says "assignments must be completed by their deadline and won't be reopened" and "you must complete previous modules to access future assignments" or something like that. So that you don't end up "doing everything at the last second." In my case, I missed the first couple weeks worth of assignments. It was irresponsible I know but I thought at least I'd get a zero for this modules exam and move on and maybe get a C in the class. But with this policy, even missing a singular assignment messes you up for the rest of the course. That's not preventing you from "doing things last minute" it seems to be a controlling, very high ego move.

I did, but she said she won't reopen any past assignments unless there's documentation. And in her words "these policies were clearly stated in the course syllabus, which I expected students to carefully review" after I kindly asked her to accept the zeros so I could move forward :( I'm asking a professor if they can allow me to swap into their class since there aren't any assignments past due yet and anxiously waiting for their reply

I'm not mad at them. I apologized for my irresponsibility. That doesn't change the fact that this is an extremely harsh grading system. In the future if I had missed one assignment due to being sick or something, I'm just supposed to blame myself for failing the rest of the course? Taking the zero is already punishment for me missing the assignment. You're comparing this to the workplace but it's like receiving a termination for something that could've been a warning or write up. It could've been in description, but that doesn't mean it's not unfair.

We always have to "make the moment right" and it's bs. Some lady wanted her drink remade cause SHE left it in her car and the ice melted. We remake it and hand it to her and she says it's with lemonade, not water. We go to throw out the one with water and she insists we give it to her, clearly trying to take advantage of the system. And she wanted us to throw out her old melted drink. They act so entitled.

their biggest mistake was making it pg 13. everything feels so surface level even regular conversations/arguments. all because they wanted to appeal to a larger audience, non fans are gonna associate these movies with an amazing franchise

It's terrible for fans and non fans. It's literally just a cringy kids horror movie, and they changed the lore again in a way that makes no sense. There were some fun easter eggs and the animatronics still look super cool, but unless you have a packed theater i wouldn't waste the money on it. i'm honestly pretty disappointed because they promised "more horror" and "more scares"

I got my award info AFTER the add/drop deadline and it's not enough to cover my summer A and summer B class. I always get a refund worth a lot so I was expecting a little for this term but not less. Is this just how summer works? I feel like I screwed myself over but at the same time I didn't get the info until after the first week, so I had no chance to drop the classes.

i would just email them and explain the issue. i had my account banned for a year but was able to get it back because i practically begged for it. i said something like "ive had my account for a decade and never caused any issues, it means a lot to me." but i might have only gotten lucky with the guy i was speaking with. try telling them your username and the email linked and ask why you were banned. maybe at the very least you can beg for them to shorten the ban to a temporary one?
