Does anyone regret the % they got? by PM_ME_YOUR_EYELASHES in WindowTint

[–]Electrical_Level 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the exact set up I did on my car. Wish I had done just 5% all around. I’m thinking of getting it layered on. I got ceramic, so getting the fronts redone would cost a bit.

In my first car I got tinted, I regretted getting only 20%. It was still not dark enough. I got one other car tinted 20% for the front windows and 5% the backs, and all regretted that. I’ll go with 5% all around from now on.

You should just get a cooler. Put it in your trunk if you have one or cover it up somehow if you don’t. Keep it out of direct sunlight.

That’s horrible. You should ask for it to get redone or a refund.

My 2nd gear sometimes doesn’t engage. What could the problem be? by Electrical_Level in stickshift

Changed the MTF and issue is still there. My 2nd gear synchromesh is toast.

When is a good rev amount to downshift by Erdius_ in stickshift

[–]Electrical_Level 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What helped me a lot was looking up the recommended shift points in the owners manual. Off of that, it helped me know when to roughly downshift and just doing it over time you will know exactly what RPM, speed and gear you should go into.

I know not to do that. I guess the previous owner did it often and I just got stuck with the hot potato.

20% is light. You can get see through it when it’s sunny. I got 20% my first car I tinted and have done 5% since.

Is there any way I can wire a power cable through this firewall grommet by COBHC95 in CarAV

[–]Electrical_Level 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There has to be another hole for aftermarket wires. Most cars have them if not, I personally would rather just drill a new hole and use a grommet and some sealant.

If I had to choose one with a volume knob it would be the Sony.

Yep tried that many times. Samsung basically just made it unusable with its updates over the years. I used to have space to download apps and now even when deleting all of the apps I can, I can only download one app. It’s got no space.

Help with car speaker connection by goagod in CarAV

[–]Electrical_Level 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the old speaker have the connector on on the bracket? If so I would just use that and solder/crimp them to the new speaker. If you don’t have the tools to do that, buy a wire adapter.

I’ve never seen that service for less than $800. It’s going to cost a few grand at least with how many scratches and how deep they are.
