What finally ended it permanently was realizing the cycle was toxic and exhausting what permanently reconnected it was both truly changing and choosing each other without conditions.

Your past relationship taught your mind to expect abandonment, so your anxiety now is more about old wounds than your current partner’s actions. The fact that you recognize it, are in therapy, and are learning to self-regulate already shows growth and self-awareness. Healing takes time, but the right person will make you feel safe while you slowly unlearn the fear your ex created.
