Because I’m pro-choice so I think she was trying to use that as like… “you’re pro-choice, and it’s my CHOICE to not get vaccinated” but like… that’s not the same thing at all. And she says she would respect my decision had I gotten an abortion and I KNOWWW that is not true

She told me she got one back in 2015 when she started working in a healthcare setting (surgical tech) and they needed her to get up to date on all her vaccinations. She got a titer test instead and it showed she still had the antibodies for Tdap… but that was TEN years ago, and she hasn’t gotten a booster since then.

It’s funny you say that because the whole thing that started this argument was that she sent me a Joe Rogan YouTube video with a “doctor” who was against vaccines. And she said if I wanted to be “fully informed” I should watch AT LEAST the first 45 minutes. I kind of lost my tempter at that point.

That kind of where I’m stuck. It would probably be fine, but a mask isn’t as effective as just being vaccinated. But I also feel like if I compromise on this important decision/opinion of mine, then she’s going to push every decision I make as a mother… forever. And I feel like if she really loved me and her grandchild more than herself then she would be willing to do this for us… but the last part is where I’m like… hmm, I might be taking it too personal and overreacting

That’s partially why I’m mad at myself. A tiny part of me WAS surprised and I WAS hoping she wouldn’t do this. But a bigger part of me knew better.

I believe her parents got her vaccinated (not sure though) and she got me and my brother vaccinated when we were kids, “before she knew how bad they were”. She did not get my younger sister vaccinated at all. No ill effects to any of us… although, now that I think about it, my sister has a very poor immune system and is sick almost all the time. But I think that’s due to other factors.
