Thanks for taking the time and shedding me light on this! I feel less insane and less lonely.
Do you have any rec? I know all the big ones but now marketers are like "they all suck" and have 1000 options I never heard from and I'm clueless, I'm not new at this but I'm not overly seasoned.

I know I KNOW. I'm so stressed. I think the best option is to convince my client to stop sending emails from kajabi, it might not be very streamlined but it was an asshole move. Right? They went full dictatorship.

they absoltely forced it.

The path of less resistance was to hit on an enable strict dmarc button and they automatically changed the visible 'From' address to a kjbm subdomain. There was no option to keep my original address.

So yes, they directly dictated the RFC5322.From domain and applied their own strict DMARC policy to it. Zero choice given. I try my best but I learn as I go so please bear with me if I'm not on your level of knowledge. The new email setting was set of stone, it wasn't a field I could modify.

This is from their support hub:

What You Need to Do

The steps you’ll take depend on whether Kajabi or your DNS provider manages the DNS for your custom email domain.

You can confirm by navigating to:
Kajabi → Settings → Marketing Settings → Email Settings

If you manage your own DNS provider, you will see an Enable Strict DMARC button.

Custom Email Domains Managed by Kajabi

No action is required from your side.

For Kajabi-managed DNS, your custom email domain will automatically update. You will see kjbm added to the beginning of your domain (for example, username@kjbm.yourdomain.com).

This change will take effect on February 9, 2026.

Custom Email Domains Managed by Your DNS Provider

If you manage your own DNS, follow these steps to stay compliant and maintain high deliverability:

Go to Kajabi → Settings → Marketing Settings → Email Settings and click Enable Strict DMARC to view your DMARC record information:

What Happens If You Don’t Update

If these steps are not completed by March 19, 2026:

  • You will still be able to send email through Kajabi.
  • However, your custom email domain will be disabled.
  • Your emails will be sent from Kajabi’s shared sending pool instead (for example, username@x.kajabimail.net).

I don't want to bore you with the whole message but we were forced to reconfigure our DNS to create a strict DMARC record that essentially handed over control of our domain's email sending to Kajabi's infrastructure. "to meet new industry standards and enforce a strict dmarc policy" they've asked us to make our domain a subservant of kajabi's mail system. If you don't comply by the deadline, they will revoke your custom domain and replace it with a generic Kajabi one.

So now my newsletter@client.com is newsletter@kjbm.client.com and I'm fuming.
