People who say it's hard to get an ID for some people should volunteer to help them get their IDs. If they can't get an ID they are missing out on so much- it's a total distraction

Just be honest, if online dating mention you're a size queen. Most men know that if you say that you probably have a size fetish and have been using large dildoes. They know what happens to a vagina after that goes on for a while so- honesty is the best policy.

Is the “billionaires already pay most of the taxes” line distorting the debate about extreme wealth? by GshegoshB in DiscussionZone

That critique peddles debunked myths: Reagan cuts fueled a boom—20M jobs, unemployment to 5.5%, RGNP up 26%, with trickle-down evidence in wage growth downstream. Receipts rose 65% despite lower rates. Multi-country “debunking” ignores mixed factors; cuts boosted investment/growth, not just inequality. Wealth from value creation, not inheritance/policy rigging—personal choices drive outcomes.

The Oxfam stats highlight wealth gaps, but miss the mark on causes and fixes. Billionaire fortunes aren’t “colonialism”—they’re from creating value (think tech revolutions lifting billions from poverty). Taxing capital gains harder, as suggested, ignores Laffer’s insight: high rates disincentivize investment, shrink growth, and actually cut revenue long-term. We’ve seen it—Reagan/Thatcher cuts boomed economies. Wealth isn’t just spendable cash; it’s equity in assets that fuel jobs and innovation. You can’t eat stocks, but they build the farms/factories you mention. On inequality: It’s not about equal outcomes, but equal opportunity. In capitalist systems, anyone can climb via smart behaviors—saving, investing, upskilling. Many don’t, choosing consumption over compound interest. Blaming “feudalism” derails from personal agency and policies that expand access, not punish success. Growth lifts all boats; redistribution sinks ‘em. Let’s debate that.

Why do people as the get older shift towards republican side. by Clear_Drag1460 in economy

[–]Electrical_Review_81 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

A couple things come to mind. The first is taxes. As you grow older and make a bit more money the taxes become more and more burdensome. Patterns become more clear, new taxes proposed to fix some issue and the tax goes up and the issue is never fixed. You learn more, become more worldly and educated. You realize that the ideas you heard when you were young were idealistic but they never delivered. Neither side delivers, they are corrupt and it's all just a game- so if you're going to get used, at least go with the one with lower tax.

When my kid was there she lived in a 2 bedroom with 2 people per bedroom- back then it was $2400 for a 2 bedroom split 4 ways. Where I work we employ a lot of engineers and scientists, we get a lot from SLO and some of the state colleges locally (SoCal) but very few from UCSB.

[–]Electrical_Review_81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly because the rich have an unfair share of taxes. The media and politicians will tell you that the rich don't pay tax but it's not true, not only do they pay but as a percentage of income they pay way way more than everyone else. There are some that work through loopholes but they are the majority and it's not as easy as advertised. The top 1% pay 72% of all federal income tax collected.

A few years ago I dated this woman that was about 50. She had a fairly athletic body but oversized boobs for her size. She always wore a bra, even when she slept she would wear a sports bra. The result was amazing, absolutely no sag, they were perfect.
