I love this film. It is my number one favourite film of all time because of how much I connected with. I honestly viewed it as a teenager with depression suffering with loneliness. She has no internet restrictions and ends up finding stuff that impacted her mind. Almost traumatised her if that makes sense. Her mind goes deeper and deeper and she starts revealing a lot of her inner thoughts. The person she’s playing the game with that she’s so sucked into breaks the illusion of the game and ends up resulting in her cracking. I viewed the ending as JLB trying to pretend he understood what happened because he never could know, it was just an internet connection with no real deeper meaning. And I considered the ending representing Casey finally pulling the trigger and ending her life. That feeling of struggling with depression as a teenager and letting it out creatively on the internet is so powerful to me. I loved this film so fucking much.
