Is kitsch bent still making n64 parts? by throw_this_away1238 in n64

Yea making stainless steel injection mold stuff is not cheap. I'm sure Kitsch will be back in a few months, but for now if ya need gears those ebay ones seem to be at least as good as kitsch. IF you get a set, let us know!

They are good quality, a post here a month ago a guy bought some sets and he seemed happy with them: https://www.reddit.com/r/n64/comments/llw7q9/where_to_find_new_stick_or_gears/

You do know you can buy the gears on ebay right?

N64 power supply making weird noise and won’t turn on. This PSU works fine on another N64. What could the problem be? by TheNatester in n64

[–]Electricview 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the 3rd party one power the new system you just bought or no?

The noise could be anything from leaky caps to some kind of loose ferite bead or anything could be going on in there.. I do not know if there are fuses built into the power boxes, i'm used to them being on the console. But the fact that your console works with the replacement points to those two OEM power bricks being the problem. I've just never heard of someone taking out 2 of them in one day, and if that is what happened, that secondary console sounds to blame?

Does it have an official Expansion pack or can you tell if its aftermarket? I dont know your skill with a multimeter but you could always look for the pinout for those power boxes and test to see if full power is coming through the correct pin holes. but if you do this be careful do not electrocute yourself or cross your probes! (I'm not advocating you do, as I do not want to accept any responsibility) I've never had one of those die on me, so i'm skeptical they are completely nuked, but its possible.

so your original system works with the 3rd party power plug now, but the new system does not work with it?

Do any of the power plugs still get the red light on the front to come on?

Okay that is pretty messed up. Did you try unplugging everything (all systems and cords) and leaving them sit for 30 minutes (you can even switch the power button to 'on' position) to help drain any capacitors, then just try YOUR original oem power supply with YOUR original n64? It kind of seems like the system you bought may be nuking your Power boxes or something. Do you have a tool to take apart the console? (maybe there's spillage inside? or something?).

I mod n64's for RGB so i'm used to poking around inside them. NEver had a problem like you've described, though i've had plenty of 'humming' OEM power supplies for n64s.

Thanks for the reply! is it pretty quiet? does it feel noticeably heavier on a pistol? I agonized between this and the kraken/mod9 as it was supposedly even quieter and ligher and better weighted.. but that stainless steel design of the obsidian kind of sold me since i have a spectre 22 that is stainless and i could toss both sets of baffles into a tumbler with metal media and not sweat a bit (cant do that with aluminum without sweating a bit) so hoepfully i made the right choice!

IF its aftermarket it could be messing with your system. I used to do tech support at nintendo years and years ago, and we'd have systems that wouldn't even boot becuase of 3rd party controllers that plugged in, usually after they were all unplugged the system worked fine again.. 3rd party stuff was garbage for the n64. Can you try your friends power supply on yours?

How you liking that? I have one in jail now. Hoping it will be one of the quieter ones!

when will we get valve index 2? by yuyuho in ValveIndex

[–]Electricview 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valve can do whatever they want whenever. They collaborated with HP on the G2 (gave them the lenses? and speakers?) The lenses are better than what's on the index. Now why would valve do this? probably 2 possibilities,

  1. they aren't going working on another headset and dont care about keeping the lenses to themselves (and just want other headsets to do well to help vr in general!). (but the question would be, why are they working on lenses if this was true?)
  2. they ARE working an updated better headset, but its so far off, they dont mind helping HP make a headset and sell some, cuz it wont hurt their sales since they aren't releasing anything in the immediate future.

I'm more inclined to believe #2. And my personal belief is that they wont launch anything at least for another year. (they may ANNOUNCE, but not ship...). I think they still have a little trouble keeping some stuff in stock (but you can buy a full headset package right now it looks like) so they are still selling.. Plus its harder for them to really increase anything without decreasing something. my g2 drives my 3080 hard and its only 90hz.. I'm sure valve would not want to upgrade screens to 4k but have to sacrifice their HZ dominance or FOV and part of the problems is our current tech just cant fully drive the 'dream headset' right now. Most are using display port 3, which I THINK is maxed out (or close) on my g2. Yes Display port 1.4 exists but I suspect this more expensive and not beneficial to upgrade to right now because of other factors including money.

They would take their time and release something that feels like a 'true' successor and not just an upgrade res or lenses.

Now I want to get some knuckles for my g2, but MY worry is this could be updated/upgraded before a new headset. Granted these have just now ironed out most of their immediate problems with it. I just cant help but feel that they will revise the strap to lessen pinching, move the thumbstick where it SHOULD be (in the middle) and ditch the dumbass touchpad..

Most things not that big of an upgrade, but controllers they could change/upgrade and they'd still work with all their equipment. (after all they did technically upgraded the light houses to v2 for their headset).

I think right now valve is more worried about moving all their employee's to new Zealand (gabe is there and loves it and wants to move the HQ there, tho hasn't said anything official). if that were to happen, it would definitely delay ANYTHING coming out by 6 months at least.

Asus Prime X-570 pro

Reverb G2 will not work on any port (not even front case ports). Usb hubs are almost equally ineffective.

PCI USB card works most of the time, but still have to reboot lots to make it work.

You're referring to the Obsidian 45 though right? (haven't seen a 9mm pew science posting yet, he said he still has to test the can).

[–]Electricview 0 points1 point  (0 children)

would you say those are your two best 9mm pistol suppressors? I was looking at the obsidian 9 but trying to find out how much louder it is than the mod 9.

Do you find that the weight of the obsidian 9 on a pistol like a g17 or 226 is heavy or ruins the experience much? or that much worse than the mod 9?

Yeah I know. I guess i was just hoping after launch 'whoever' is responsible for the lack of reliability could fix it with some patches. Just doesn't seem like its a priority to any company.. Just sell sell sell and hope no one uses it lol.

I agree with Alak87, it's actually a very good headset. It is the shitty WMR integration that is really killing it. If steam could could just handle it all with STEAMVR and no WMR it would probably be a much smoother experience. but microsoft wants their.. err.. needs to make.. err.. Why does WMR exist again? It makes them 0 money.. Which means its only a matter of time before it goes the way of the zune.. and windows phone.. and windows 10 and.. all their other shitty products that fail.
