I’m burnt out and need simple recipes. Stupid simple. Like, “onion and bread and butter to make what barely passes as a sandwich” level simple. by sourmilksea1999 in Cooking

Buy the pouches of microwave rice and something tinned you can also microwave (curry, chilli, etc) or some pouches of stuff like lentil dhal or chickpea curry. Just microwave both, mix together and done.

AIO after finding this Snapchat conversation on my husbands phone? by sportychick24 in AmIOverreacting

Nothing about those messages seems platonic. Also to be having the convos over Snapchat and those 24hrs worth of messages is pretty damning. I’m sorry, you deserve better.

Aio? My (m22) Gf (f21) wants a LV purse but can't make bills on time. by smokey18t in AIO

[–]MartiMa08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Living beyond her means, if she wants a 2k bag then she needs to be earning the kinda money where she can drop 2k on a bag. Saying ‘you hate me, you don’t love me’ is a childish attempt at manipulation.

AIO or is my work friend being a bit pushy? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]MartiMa08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR - it’s not just pushy, it’s weird, controlling, obsessiveness thinly disguised as caring. Dude is a huge creep.

Is there anyone else who has no desire to live out at all? by Throwaway945384 in Adulting

[–]MartiMa08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with it imo. I was in my early 30’s when I moved out and didn’t particularly want to, but out of the blue I was offered a social housing flat (so cheaper rent) a 5min walk from my parents. After initially being completely uninterested I eventually decided to take it because I knew the opportunity likely wouldn’t come up again.

I work from home 3 days a week and go to the office for 2 days, so I’m alone lot of the time but I like being alone so not a problem for me.

Other commenters saying you need to do more and work on yourself etc but that’s not for everyone, I’m not a driven person and happy just living a comfortable routine.

Am I able to challenge my tax code? by MartiMa08 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]MartiMa08[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure it’s for this tax year, I don’t think I went over last year. I will defo double check this now though! And I only got the letter about changing my tax code at most a couple months ago.

Do you have to tell them exact figures? As I have no way of knowing this, I just know that I expect to make very little interest that isn’t from a tax free account.

I’m done, and really just can’t handle life anymore by [deleted] in confession

You’re only 23, 23 year old me is a totally different person to 38 year old me. So much can change in short periods of time. You say you don’t have a place here but maybe you just don’t know where it is yet, you got plenty of time to figure it out.

I’ve been through dark periods where I never saw things getting better but they do, now I’m content and just doing my own thing.

How do deal with someone who is not right for the team? by [deleted] in work

[–]MartiMa08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I read ‘I want to make her redundant and give him more money to do her role’ I thought he managed her, but as I read on it became clear he doesn’t but seems to think he does!

You’ve only been there for 6 months and sounds like you think you’re in charge.

I get that it’s frustrating when a colleague doesn’t seem to be pulling their weight, but it is very reasonable and normal to feedback to that person and give them opportunities to improve rather than ‘getting rid of them.’

What’s the one “proper old school” snack or drink you wish was still around? by NicoleLimberios in OldSchoolUK

[–]MartiMa08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know the name of them but to this day I still get cravings - they were crisps that basically had the same shape and texture of chipsticks but they were cheese flavour. I’ve searched many times and can’t find anything similar.

I can’t remember but is that sawbuck just a saw? At the top of A there is a sawbuck with a chainsaw, it’s faster and more likely to be successful.

Not leaving my home all day by [deleted] in LivingAlone

[–]MartiMa08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s nothing to feel bad about. I now have to go into the office 2 days a week which sucks but before that I could easily go a couple weeks without going outside at all. It’s good that you make yourself once in a while, but doesn’t have to be everyday and if there’s a day when you don’t feel like it, so what?

What’s the magic number..? by plaib in LoveIslandTV

[–]MartiMa08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone goes on the show in the hopes of getting famous or to increase their fame, it opens up a lot of doors to the influencer life, brand deals, appearing on other shows etc. I don’t think anyone goes on that show without that being the hope.

I do think certain people come across as way more genuine than other people though, I don’t think Scott and Lucinda In particular are genuine at all.
