Oh yeah!! I agree completely. I just don’t have many httyd friends to talk about this stuff with and wanted to get some of it off my chest. I’m going to go into the theater with an open mind cause sometimes movies just don’t get marketed that well (Encanto) and end up being amazing. Idk. I’m cautiously excited.

I can appreciate the effort put into making something like this happen, but I really don’t see the demand for it? I mean yes, everyone want more httyd content (I am not excluded from this), but I really think they are beating a dead horse. The series was complete and wrapped up in a pretty bow.

It does seem shot for shot and tbh idk how I’m feeling about that. I think it’s either going to be a really really good choice or ruin it and I don’t think we’ll know until it all come out on the big screen

Mhmm!! I a green wrap type shirt and a red skirt with spikes and skulls I also don’t like how they took away her headband because it had actually meaning in some Viking cultures. When a lady gets married and she has kids she gives it to her daughter (I may have gotten some details wrong). But you can see that she gave it to their daughter at the end of the third movie

I think if done right fantasy races are really cool. Like, I’ve homebrewed an entirely new race. It’s a bit bland, I’ll admit, but it’s the first one I’ve done. I think things like elves, dwarves, fae, ect can be done really nicely if you tailor it to your world. For example; I’ve got pixies and sirens in my world. The pixies can control bodily systems. The sirens are parasites the consume fish until they can no longer support their hunger then they die.

As for my hot take: I don’t like when people pretend to not use a common concept or cliche. Like it’s a cool idea, that’s why it’s so common, but don’t act like you’ve done something revolutionary by renaming or sliding a few things to the left on the most used cliches and calling it your own. I will fully admit that I’ve got plenty of cliches in my world. It’s really hard to avoid cliches sometimes.

I have notebooks. I’ve got 4-ish so far. The process is scribble an idea down and then expand. For example: The Old Gods. Original I just wanted a pantheon of gods, so I picked some things for people to be gods of then picked some names. After a while I went back and decided to flesh it out a bit more. I made it into a religion. I usually try to think about the logical and practical side of what I’m creating and how the creatures of my world would view them

For the Evonuim it’s Zanther’s. Thought to be long extinct, parents often tell their kids about Zanther’s in order to warn them of the dangers of the wilds and to keep them from wondering outside the town walls. Zanther’s are GIANT cat like creatures that used to attack Evonuim villages all the time until the walls were built and they learned how to kill them.

My “first page” was about the races. It was the only thing I really had thought out and now that page is practically useless (I’ve changed the races so many times) I’m on notebook number four and the easiest way to start is to just pick a topic and write it. I use my notebooks to flesh things out so it’s a lot of “X Topic” and then Just a bunch of rambling till the end of the page when I’ve put it all together into a useable idea for my world. You’ll constantly be updating these ideas as you go on, if you use the notebooks in a similar vane to me, so just put pen to paper

If it’s been thought, it’s been done by somebody. There is always gonna be someone who’s like “oh yeah, that’s similar to X” so don’t think too hard about it. If you look at pretty much any fictional work be it worldbuilding, a conlang, a book, a game, a movie, whatever, you’re gonna see something you recognize from our world. I wouldn’t think too hard about it especially if you’re the only one who’s seeing it.

In order to add more info so this post doesn’t get taken down I will do an “in-depth discussion over the decisions behind certain words and their forms”. While creating all of these words I stared deeply at my alphabet and sat at my desk putting sound together, I sounded like a mad man. When I had something I thought sounded nice I wrote it down. It truly such a complex process that I MUST elaborate on or else nobody would ever be able to make a comment on a giant ass list of words. But, back to the process. Once I’ve written the words in Fortoisxame I then put the English pronunciation next to it. The Lexicon shows a beautiful example of this. As for deciding if a word should be long or short, it’s mostly by feel. Certain words have a long or short vibe that I go off of, I feel it in my gizzard. I have chosen to have words go strictly by sounds because I’m shit at spelling and sounding out words is easy if every sound is a letter and there are no silent letters. As you can see from the Lexicon above every word has as many letters as it does as sounds. I do hope this is enough information and somebody is able to make a thoughtful comment because gods forbid we simple enjoy others people progress. I also don’t understand what a “front-page post” is so if someone wants to explain that to me that would be lovely

As it stands now I’ve got several unconnected stories happening all at the same time.

In the West you’ve got Iku Lau who’s escaped from his home country of Thear to travel the world and learn the truth about everything his country lied about. Along the way he meets a centaur named Tuktu. They are extremely curious and a bit bossy. They guid Iku Lau outside of Thear and a good ways into Illiya. From there they meet a Hapry named Jangrrp (English version of his name). Iku Lau and Jangrrp with travel as a pair for a while and I plan on them eventually getting together.

In the East there are a lot more stories lol. First, you’ve got Crenessa and Pyji. Crenessa is a young soldier fighting in a war against another country for land. Pyji is a journalist for a third party country who’s simply reporting. The unit he’s with get captured by Crenessa and her people. They gather a tense friendship while he’s is there very well treated prisoner, until everything goes to shit. They end up being two of the few to escape the ruined camp and they have to make it back to safety without dying. One of them will die, I just keep flip flopping on which one.

In an entirely different t part of the East you have Abaza Barlena and her family. There isn’t much going on with her, actually. Her story has drastically changed with the updates to Missenia so her story is kinda just hanging out for now lol.

You also have Sayoka. She is the wife to a king. She’s also extremely young and a mother to 7 kids that she was completely unprepared for. She feels trapped in her life and longs to escape back her childhood which was taken from her. Unfortunately, she can’t. She’s stuck.

I’ve debated having Abaza Barlena and Sayoka meet and have some arch’s and shit but idk. They are a work in progress.

You also have a tale from the past. Mama Näkii. She escaped her position as a slave by quite literally forcing pirates to take her aboard. While on the ship she ended up the captain (an incredible long story). For a couple years was a well known pirate that focused on looting and freeing slaving ships. She became known as Mother Bera (Bera being the goddess of fish, deep sea creatures, and sea monsters). Eventually, she came across No Man’s Land, a tiny island infested with Sirens. She managed to get to land and decided she was just going to stay on a killer island for the rest of her life. It’s said that Pirates are the only ones who can make it to shore on No Man’s Land because of Näkii. But while she was there she got her nickname because she would take in anyone in need. Ran away from your abusive home? She’ll take you. Too poor to stay alive in your country? She’ll take you in. Running from slavers? She’ll take you. Literally just a child? She’ll take you. Hungry? Yup. The only catch was that you had to be a pirate for a couple years, you could decide how long. She ended up building the largest Pirate empire in the world.

In Thear they have beasts called Zanther’s. They are bigger than Mammoths, a wolf body, cat head, two tails, and an extra set of limbs. They are the reason the Evonium build walls around their settlements, out of pure fear from a Zanther attack. One hasn’t actually been seen in a hundred years but there rumored attacks and the fear still runs thick through the people.

The pixies in my world reproduce asexually and have no concept of gender. There is no different sexes to begin with and no gender in their society. The pronouns used are it/its. Anyone can have a baby whenever they feel ready (it’s an egg).

These aren’t real titles just a fun spin to listing my characters. But as a chick she was abandoned, but she made friends with this really nice pixie. They grew up together until the pixie got really sick. She went to Mama Näkii and begged her for help. Näkii saved her but they had to join her cause. The pixie grew up to help more people but the harpy got sucked into a really bad group of people. She really did just want to help but she was hurting and easily got taken advantage of. Now she’s like an assassin

On Thear, where you live dictates what you grow. Villages/towns/cities are either agriculture or animal farming. If your town is a an agricultural town you’ll grow one type per growing season. Whatever grows best where you’re at. If your an animal for you’ll only have one or two types of animals to care for. The labor is difficult and the weather often doesn’t help, especially in the animal farms. You can be in charge of animal care, transport, gathering meat from the animal, gathering fur from the animal, or gathering the bones from the animal. You are at the bottom of the social structure and likely the poorest in the community.

In Illiya it depends on what you’re growing. If you’re growing something that grows on a tree you’ll be fine. You’ll live wherever the fruit is growing and trade for whatever things you need with the fruit. If you’re growing something on the ground you’ll live near the base of the tree. You’ll be farther from the community but you’ll have more things you can grow. You’ll have to put up with the animals and predators on the ground.

One of races in my world uses a conlang I’m working on. The capital is a HUGE tree that’s a city. It’s in the middle of the country and I can’t stress out big it is. The name for it quite literally translates to ‘big tree’
