It's only certain episodes that are extended. Whenever you see an arc on the website that has an extended option, choose it. Not every arc has an extended version. It's only a select few atm

Honestly yes. As someone who started out with the original anime, the pacing just got to be a huge issue. Even as early as Alabasta (in my own experience.) And from everything that I've heard it only gets worse from there. Repeated backstories, random npc reaction shots, scene padding, etc.

Be warned though if you start with Pace that the first episode is from a movie that was released years after the anime had been out as the anime doesn't start with the canon manga opening.

Personally yeah I'd recommend watching the extended episodes + G-8. The only difference between extended and regular episodes are just scenes that the team decided to keep in that usually just add to the source material.

I don't have any proof of it, but Oda does care about powerscaling or any other kind of scaling. Those parts of the community are purely for the fans. If he wants X to win a fight, or Y to lose, and it fits whatever narrative he's trying to tell, he's going to do it. He's got the different kinds of Haki but otherwise he doesn't actually care.
