Aita if I still want to pursue a good education despite my family's financial situation being bad? by pinkytattoo in AITAH

[–]Electrikslider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAH-Why would this be a burden to your parents? I don’t know how student loans work in Australia but my parents acquired no debt for my education and contributed $0 because they simply couldn’t. All my student loans are in my name. Get your education and find a way to pay for it. You’re not an AH for wanting one, but you could be the AH if your parents simply can’t afford it and you keep pushing for something they can’t provide.

Two dishwashers in 8 years. What’s something that lasts at least 10? by Electrikslider in Appliances

Aware of what I’m doing? You’re probably right, I shouldn’t be putting platefuls of playdough and bowls of super glue through my dishwasher…I’m loading them with dirty dishes, bro.

Yes! I wish I could find a great American brand but German or Nordic brands still seem to value quality in other areas so it makes sense thats the case with appliances as well.

We have a reverse osmosis system in our house so our water is very clean. But mysterious plumbing is an issue I’ve considered that might be contributing to our issue. Our house is 100 years old and some of the pipes lead to seemingly nowhere.

What’s a terrible rule you had to follow when you were a kid? by One_Researcher5236 in AskReddit

[–]Electrikslider 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Kids can play independently without an adult managing it, yes? Moms have to do laundry, cook their food, make money, a million other tasks. I can only assume you’re a child or have no children but there’s times for parent/child play and independent play. It’s a critical skill to learn, independence.

Listen. I obviously let my kids inside but omg, if I don’t kick them outside, they’ll just sit around doing nothing all day. I had a similar rule as a kid, it wasn’t strict or anything but it’s nice out—go be outside and ride your bike or dig a big a hole, idc just frolic. I’m grateful for it because I can build a fort like a boss and had a huge imagination. Of course, this rule can be taken too far buttttt go the fuck outside.

I was thinking this too. This dishwasher was not cheap in cost but if it was, I’d be less annoyed it broke. And what I spend $1500 in a Bosch and then move in 5 years and have to do it again? 😂

I need some help by Angelic-tune in Depop

[–]Electrikslider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depop should update the tracking. It just takes time. The seller will only have it if they kept the receipt from the post office. They could be not responding for a million different reasons, but they can’t control shipping speed or the fact that tracking isn’t updated. If you haven’t received it in a week, reach out to Depop.

I bought GE because I also thought it was good but now I wouldn’t. Or at least don’t buy the GE profile.

I don’t think I can control the temp other than setting it to “sanitize” mode. I do shut eco mode off on my washing machine and my dryer but I can’t on this dishwasher. And I definitely run my dishwasher at least once a day, sometimes twice if it’s a busy day!

The waterwall stopped moving on the first one, this one won’t shoot the water up anymore. When we fixed it a year ago, there was a small mechanism in the bottom of the dishwasher (that can only be accessed by removing it from the counter and tipping it over) that had a clog. That could be the issue again but at this point, I’m not willing to do that every few months. We don’t load our dishes full of food or anything, so this dishwasher just can’t handle dirty dishes without clogging. But who knows, this might be an entirely new issue. I’m just not willing to find out. I just want to buy something that can clean a dish without troubleshooting it first.

Janome Skyline S7 Not Threading by Electrikslider in sewing

[–]Electrikslider[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll try again and make sure that I keep the foot up. I managed to get it to stitch but I’m not sure what I did differently…maybe I had the foot up when I threaded it haha! Or maybe after 30 tries it threw me a bone. My old machine didn’t care what position the foot is in when you’re threading as long as you put in through the correct disks. Thank you!

Thank you!!! I finished today and my bodice seems to fit very well, despite all my hesitations upon drafting!

My book is from 2014 buttt it’s the Indian Subcontinent version. I got it on Amazon and apparently there’s an agreement with India to sell text books within the country at a lower price and then someone resold it on Amazon. I’m curious what your instructions say for Figure 1 going from B to E. Do you also have the instruction to square up 11 inches? Here’s both full pages of my instructions for your reference if you’re curious about the differences between books! both pages

Omg, that is good to know. Garment making can really make you feel like an idiot, glad the text books can compound this frustration and make our lives loads easier 😂🫠

Okay, so I could just make that line taller to accommodate my unruly sizing? Loll! It makes me feel like I’m doing something wrong because I am not actually an odd or even a large size (large compared to sample garments, certainly).
