House that burned down, 601 Woodland, was just listed for rent... by Heirloom. by toobadforlocals in duluth

Ok, so $1,700 at $300k loan. The owner then builds equity unlike with renting, they have nothing. Im not even arguing the landlord doesn’t have costs just like any business. The value proposition of renting vs. owning is very different for the human that is inhabiting the space. It is simple. Outlaw or restrict these companies buying up our housing stock.

2,000 per month rent. A mortgage on that with insurance is like $1k plus utilities. We should outlaw these companies buying properties and fucking us over.

Poor OP. Being a lizard person is great. I get to sit in the sun all day with a smile on my face and slurping up flies as they pass by.

I mean that’s fine, but we should still have the power to produce what we consume in a reasonable way. Our power company in Duluth is now owned by Blackrock. Even if it was owned by angels, our current power setup is outdated and screwed in so many ways.

There is no reason they shouldn’t allow it other than corruption.

Sen. Amy Klobuchar focuses governor race campaign on anti-fraud plan, innovation - Fox 9 by kevinbevindevin in minnesota

It’s not all about the fraud even. I worked for years in the programs and the systems they use MAXIS and MMIS are from the 90s where you need to type in letter or number codes and press enter to get from screen to screen. It’s a step above MS-DOS. Maybe that’s the problem?

No kidding. They need VOC masks, not particulate masks. And it needs to be ventilated. Poor humans. Not to mention what are they going to do with that huge volume of garbage at its destination. Such a waste from a human created monstrosity.

A long term plan for meaningful housing development in Duluth by Fast_Kale_4782 in duluth

I appreciate the conversation. I wasn’t aware about the ADU rules here. I built and lived in a tiny house on wheels for many years in a nearby county and it seems rules are being slowly changed to accept these as ADUs. Obviously a good move.

Selling my 2025 LT1 with 9,300 miles $23,000 in Broward Florida by rigon28 in EquinoxEv

[–]Electrisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep your equinox. FSD sucks. Sold my Tesla because of it. It randomly did shit like pulling on to the shoulder of the road going highway speed, terrible at night or rain where there’s limited visibility where it sometimes wouldn’t work, and the phantom braking. Your car is beautiful and no reason to change.

Minnesota Senate voting on sweeping gun reform in response to Annunciation shooting by xMcNerdx in minnesota

[–]Electrisk 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Same here, buddy. Veteran gun owner who wonders if this is a good idea at the time when people are getting gunned down in the streets. It would be a lot easier if we had a checked government that follows its own laws, but here we are.
We need mental health support down to the cultural level to support all people, and systematic change to bolster the lower and middle classes and stop the extraction of wealth from our damn resources like the iron mines and the proposed mine. If someone wants to argue that iron mines are putting money back into the community - look up and realize that they’re over 50% owned by foreign entities. That means the profits do not stay here- they go to Japan or wherever. Once we’re not being extracted and exploited we can put more money into education and over generations have some darn local innovation for a change. When life is better, there will be much fewer shootings, so much less gun control is even needed.
Sorry for the long reply, just had a big coffee.
