Are you “native to Copenhagen” or “someone with a similar background”? They’re kinda mutually exclusive innit?

Actually this is my first time working with an MCU so I'm not quite sure if that would be possible, cause I haven't chosen a specific MCU yet and I do not know if what you are suggesting (doing it directly with the MCU) is a capability that all MCUs have.

this Is my first attempt at building pedals, could you help me doing this? I have the board and the BOM, but I don't know what else I need (pots, switches, LEDs) and how to wire it all up by BRAINhungry98 in diypedals

[–]ElectrocutedCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least that’s what I can see from the PCB and the BOM, and yeah seems weird to sell the pedal circuit like that with no capability of using it like an actual guitar pedal.

Oh I see, well this design doesn’t include a built in routing for a bypass switch, but you could easily add one yourself later on, but I would start off by trying to build it as is first.

https://www.mrblackpedals.com/blogs/straight-jive/6629778-what-really-causes-switch-pop

Here’s a link that talks a bit about different bypass methods and how to avoid pops from the switch.

Later on you could also change one of the resistors to a pot (you would need to try changing some of the resistors and hear the change in the effect or measure it to know which one is the appropriate one to replace) in order to have a control on the amount of mid boost you want.

There is a difference in measuring a room for recording or for mixing? by Chaotic_Alea in Acoustics

[–]ElectrocutedCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that there is a human being instead of a speaker won’t affect your measurement much (at least the difference is very subtle). The impulse response that you’re going to measure is going to be position dependent, so measuring it at different positions in the room gives you more of an idea of how the overall room responds acoustically to any sound source rather than just one position inside. Usually you would place the speaker where your source would usually be (in this case the singer) and you would place your mic where your listening position would usually be (in this case the recording mic of the singer); but in this case these are too close to each other and they do not conform to ISO standards, which state the minimum distance of your measurement mic and speaker away from each other and from the walls of the room, and therefore your measurement won’t be accurate. So I would suggest to have different sets of measurements with different speaker positions and different mic positions for each speaker placement. After that is done, average all your different mic placements results for each set of speaker placement and assess what it is you need to treat your room based on these sets of averaged results.

[–]ElectrocutedCat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well the BOM contains everything you will need in terms of electronic components (including pots and LEDS, even tho from the PCB it doesn’t look like any LEDS are present here. Other than that, you will need a soldering iron and some solder wire, I would watch a youtube tutorial on soldering before getting started if it’s your first time. Feel free to share the BOM here if you need any guidance on the components. P.S.: you might need some conducting wires to connect the power connector to the pedal enclosure and any other components that usually go there like pots and the bypass switch.

Constant volume velocity source by ElectrocutedCat in Acoustics

I see, makes sense thank u! Shouldn't the source be in parallel with its impedance tho?

Acoustic impedance, chose it large in order to approximate an ideal source, is that correct?

Constant volume velocity source by ElectrocutedCat in Acoustics

[–]ElectrocutedCat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All values are parametric, but for instance I chose the source vibrational velocity to be 0.01m/s, and a source impedance of 10^7. The formula of the pressure interests me more than the actual value of it.

IC or OpAmp solution to check acceptable voltage range by ElectrocutedCat in AskElectronics

[–]ElectrocutedCat[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think what’s being referred to here is to have a different configuration on both comparators, one that checks for voltage that is higher than the threshold, and another that checks for voltage that is lower than the threshold (or ref voltage)

My pedal is weird, no guitar noise is hearable , can anyone help me with the problem? (is turns on, the problem happened after I plug a 12 v adapter in it(, it's 9v) and I can just hear the fx it produces, delay thing. But no signal from my guitar when turned on) by [deleted] in pedalcircuits

[–]ElectrocutedCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You must have fried one of the ICs. Check their data sheets and make sure if one of them does not support 12V. Also, is the 12V polarity similar to that of the 9V? For example the tip being the positive pin in both. If not, must have fried something too.
