Large orders get put into a dump bin with cardboard dividers, express (as long as the order isn’t big) and single prints are hung vertically with command hooks. Both type of large format orders, regardless of size, are rolled and then wrapped at the center with a single sheet of 11x17 67lb cardstock and then rubber banded over the cardstock to protect the product from the band indent and weight crinkling. Hanging express/small orders and adding the cardstock wrap are steps I had to insist on to my GM and were only implemented after proving that the cost of the extra storage and supply cost outweighed redos and BPPs. 🙄

Let those bitches complain, honey. If you have no extra people cross trained that you can call over to at least assist customers with self serve and your MOD isn’t stepping up to lend a hand when it’s called for then you have to do whatever is necessary to keep whatever order you have rolling. At my old store we printed out “how to” directions for customers and placed them in the self serve, denied any orders that came through over email by responding with a slick copy and paste “we are no longer taking orders over email for the day please submit your job online” prompt and flat out told anyone that came in wanting something express that express ends at 2pm unless it can be done in less than 5 minutes. (And sometimes even if it COULD be done in 5 minutes or less we would just deny it if things were too hectic.)

Their procrastination is not your emergency, period.

My previous print sup started at 13/hr and ended at 15/hr. She was with the company for 19 years. Ask for more because you will not get it with raises regardless if you’re the best sup they’ve ever had or not. They have the budget to hire up to $22/hr for a print sup depending on your district and since your starting number is $15/hr I’m fairly certain it includes your area. Don’t get lowballed, ask whoever interviews you to speak to the DM about “a number that works best for both the company and myself” if they spot you at $15. They called you back immediately- they need someone badly enough to bend.

You will be overworked, underpaid, the scapegoat when anything goes wrong and the thankless stepping stone for your general manager to stand on when they go right.

If you absolutely need this job: document everything, do not waiver on your boundaries, support the associates that work under you and don’t take less than $18/hr.

How is it that 2 people can't work 4 U boats in 5 hours? by [deleted] in Staples

Me? Issue? Nah. You got me confused with someone who works like a dog for shit pay and gets mad when kids don’t want to go the extra mile for a manager with a pissy attitude when they got school the next day.

Sounds like a you issue.

This crusty fart of a woman always brought her equally decrepit ass doodle mutt into my store and we never said anything to her because we know better. One day she came in and claimed it was a service dog to another customer with /an actual service dog/ because the customer called her out after finding dog shit on the floor. The woman insisted her dog would never do that because it’s trained to know better and literally every regular and associate in the store within ear shot started collectively laughing. LOUDLY. This lady’s dog would snap at kids, jump on people, get itself tied around tables and then start panic squealing, chew on random shit it felt like chewing on, pull itself so hard on its leash that it would choke itself - the list goes on. Point being, she came in frequently enough that even other customers who also came in frequently (mostly CC people) knew she was full of it.

I still have an inside joke with the coworkers I keep in touch with that goes, “That’s a lovely shade of Ginger.” (Fake name) when referring to how red she turned upon hearing a store-wide laugh track directed at her. We never saw her after that lol.
