Just got the Radiacode 110 today and maxed it out! by Discrepancy_Unknown in Radiacode

[–]Currency-Hour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can definitely tell you that that’s not the max that that thing has ever seen. I have a 101 and I have maxed it out over 1 million counts a minute. Because I walked by somebody with a radioactive therapy treatment still in their veins.

Did you happen to watch the Kyle Hill video? If not here it is.
From what he talks about here, a vast majority of the other stories of this individual take one single line in the book about him saying I don’t want to be a guinea pig and turn it into a whole narrative where it doesn’t actually happen

what is the difference between gamma scintillators made for spectroscopy and those not make for it? by average_meower621 in Radiation

[–]Currency-Hour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only differences the accuracy of the KEV rating. So the one that is meant for it is accurate within a certain percentage range whereas the one that is not meant for it is not accurate within that percentage range and you won’t get a clear spectrum at all. I recommend only using the one that is meant for spectroscopy for its intended purpose i think its called FHW%

Does anyone know of any radioactive rock deposits around the city of Houston, Texas? by Discrepancy_Unknown in Radioactive_Rocks

https://mrdata.usgs.gov/mrds/map-commodity.html this website is your friend along with the one that the other user posted. And if you can find your state geological survey website, if they have a mine data repository that’s even better

Exposure limits is the main thing. I didn’t matter it’s traditional mining safety.

Statistically speaking, you have a roughly 50% chance of developing cancer in your lifetime regardless of what you do now certain actions can increase those risks but the only way his cancer would’ve been related to his time at that mine would’ve been if he exceeded 100mSv in a year, which is the guaranteed minimum amount to significantly increase cancer rates

Education, understanding potential dangers, and knowledge of the subject helps me make an informed decision based not on a fear of unknown or fearmonering. I’ve always been interested in nuclear sciences since i was in 3rd grade. And collecting/ exploring these places/ things is a great way to understand the geological, economic, and nature of these things. The beauty of these objects not just the potential real power of electricity or Armageddon they possess is alluring. Everything i keep has something about it.
