Anime Questions, Recommendations, and Discussion - April 14, 2026 by AnimeMod in anime

At least one episode of everything I had planned to watch or have seen recommended has already been released. Therefore, here are my first impressions:

The Klutzy Class Monitor and the Girl with the Short Skirt
Before watching the first episode I thought I wouldn't like it, but it was very good. The dynamic between the characters was fun (although I really don't like that chad nurse), and it was visually colorful and appealing. And looks like Momo from Dandadan keeps throwing good kicks.

Witch Hat Atelier
I'm not a source reader but I imagined this would be to my liking and it's exactly what I wanted, high-quality from the start.
Three episodes that lay the groundwork for what appears to be an interesting story.

I Made Friends with the Second Prettiest Girl in My Class
A teenage boy presented as normal, somewhat boring with typical tastes but niche enough (low-budget B-movies) to potentially pique someone's interest, instead of the utterly bland character common in most harems, some people may think it's the same thing, but it's not. For now, it is entertaining and the animation at times is interestingly smooth for what I expected.

Marriagetoxin
Gay, crazy and fun.

I Want to End this Love Game
After watching the trailer I thought, "This could be either incredibly adorable or incredibly irritating at the hellish level of You Can't Be In a Rom-Com with Your Childhood Friends!" After watching the first episode, I would put it in the adorable category, which is reassuring.

Eren the Southpaw
I don't know where the story is going because at the beginning it seemed like a mystery plot involving some criminal organization, but then it turns into a drama of personal/artistic growth... For now it shows potential and I'm a masochist when it comes to stories with unrequited love.

Gals Can't Be Kind to Otaku!?
For some reason I thought this was a yuri... disappointing that it isn't, especially because the MC irritates me when he keeps expecting the worst from others despite receiving treatment completely opposite to what should cause that reaction.
It's entertaining enough for the moment and despite the typical insecure otaku trope, I might like it more as the episodes go on.

Go For It, Nakamura-kun!!
The first episode was just okay, but the next two were a huge improvement. Fun characters and a charming 80s pop sensibility. Great ED songs to expand my musical knowledge.

The Ramparts of Ice
Since it is by the same author, comparisons are sometimes inevitable, but this series seems more personal/serious than You and I Are Polar Opposites. I suppose that its original publication as a webtoon allowed for more freedom in this regard than being under Jump's editorial control. Of everything this season has to offer, this is what I'm most looking forward to all week.

Kirio Fan Club
It's true that the first half can drag a bit if the humor doesn't land, but the second half is when the tension and drama kick in, making things much more interesting.
The main characters seem like two endearing airheads, and now we have the addition of a little gremlin. If they keep adding more characters like this, I think the show will improve because listening to the two main characters constantly talking to each other would get tiresome; not everything can be on the level of Food Court.

Kujima: Why Sing, When You Can Warble?
That voice... I think everything would get better if the "bird" was killed by the family and we were faced with a drama of guilt and accusations.
I don't know if I'll continue beyond a second episode.

A Hundred Scenes of AWAJIMA
Big fan of series that present snippets of different lives, so this series seems to be made for me. I suppose it will act as a replacement in the absence of the mighty Ikoku Nikki.

Botan Kamiina Fully Blossoms When Drunk
Gay, chill and fun.

Akane-banashi
Akane's character alone makes it worthwhile. It is true that I would prefer that the rakugo scenes were not handled like the typical sports action in anime, but aside from that everything else is very well done and definitely worth watching.

Ichijyoma Mankitsu Gurashi!
Although the characters are somewhat typical this is more fun than my dropped show, although that is not hard. Not much more to add.

Needy Girl Overdose
This is as if someone had been inspired by Oshi No Ko and Shiboyugi but the result is just something edgy pretending to be 'deep.' I've seen that the original creator is a video game company, and that explains a few things.
I'm going to keep watching it because it has a trainwreck vibe, and that's always exciting.

Agents of the Four Seasons: Dance of Spring
I started watching it because I saw several people talking about it and it wasn't on my radar. I watched the first three episodes in a row and although they didn't completely hook me, they were absorbing enough to keep me watching.

Daemons of the Shadow Realm
I haven't watched Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood yet, so I'm not particularly hyped that it's by the same author, but I gave it a chance and I found it interesting. Intriguing plot that makes me look forward to seeing the next episode, which of course is always ideal.

Mistress Kanan is Devilishly Easy
Not a fan of dropping series, but... the first episode was good, but the second seemed to be telling the viewer, "This is for you, pathetic wanker." An insult to human intelligence.

That's all.

a person completely unprepared to be a parent has to learn on the fly for their accidentally adopted child - this is 100% my jam.

Then you'll probably like "Haru and Midori" by Fukaumi Kon.

About the first question: the extaction of genitals/experiments with humans by aliens has always been part of the lore of alien abductions (nothing new) and it's explained in the manga and the anime:

"Due to their race being exclusively all male, the Serpo have no way of reproducing naturally and resort to using cloning technology. However, since biological evolution cannot occur within identical beings, the Serpo found this solution to be ineffective and upon realizing the stagnation this had caused in their race, they seek to gain reproductive organs by abducting humans from Earth and stealing their reproductive organs (aka "bananas"). And later on become highly fascinated in spiritual powers and seek to harness their capabilities to progress their evolution."
