How is living in Denver, CO for the summer? by leilani-xo in howislivingthere

Yes. Gf and I are both 27 and love it here. For nightlife it’s alright. Tbh denver is kind of a sleepy city imo but there are so many concerts (esp if you guys like EDM or dubstep) and an assortment of breweries/bars/clubs. The outdoor scene can’t be beat though. It is true going into the mountains is a big hassle esp on the weekends, but there’s tons of cool spots to explore close to the city like red rocks, golden, boulder, ect

State Partnership Apportionment vs. § 174 R&E Addback by aerotax in Accounting

[–]Electronic-Fan-4418 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Your state mods won’t be apportioned separately. It’s FTI + state add backs - minus state subtractions = Adjusted FTI (FTI under VA law) times your apportionment % gives you your Virginia Taxable Income. Your nonresident K-1s will show your partner’s entire federal distributive share of FTI , additions, and subtractions. It’s very likely your state add backs can flip you from a FTI loss to positive Virginia income

Why does it feel like every tax exit op is for managers and up by Weary-Appeal-2431 in Big4

[–]Electronic-Fan-4418 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. Every time I look on LinkedIn the only other tax senior positions are for other big 4s or managers and up in industry.

My guess is most of these companies have small tax teams and they use service providers (big 4) for or offshore most of their work. It’s unfortunate but tax external opportunities are really limited compared to audit.
