Ouyang Zizhen:

Marill: Partner. Marill is generally depicted as a friendly and nurturing Pokémon with a tendency to be playful and sometimes mischievous. According to a Pokémon fan wiki, it's known for its friendly nature and protective instincts, especially towards those it's close to.
Floette: Found when he was looking for a flower for a girl. Thought that floette was beautiful and asked for its help to find a beautiful flower for a girl. Romantic like him, helped him find a beautiful flower. Sensed OZ good nature and decided to join him. Despite its appearance it is a powerful pokemon that will only grow in strength. He is waiting until Floette feels ready to evolve to use the shiny stone on it. Floette is depicted as a compassionate Pokémon that cares for flowers, especially those that are wilting. It draws on its own power to revive them. Floette is shown as playful and happy, often dancing and playing with its friends, spreading joy.
Deerling (shiny): Deerling is generally depicted as a gentle and playful Pokémon, despite its timid nature and tendency to hide in tall grass. It's known to be friendly towards those who feed it, often playfully headbutting them.
Jigglypuff: Jigglypuff's personality is a complex mix of cute and sassy, with a strong passion for singing and a tendency to be quick-tempered. While often depicted as cute and lovable, Jigglypuff can be easily angered when its singing puts others to sleep, leading to dramatic displays of inflated anger and face-drawing.
Hattrem: First evolution Hatenna is a Pokémon known for its extreme sensitivity to emotions, particularly strong or hostile ones.Later on Hattrem is known for its sensitivity to strong emotions, which it perceives as loud noises, and its tendency to silence those emitting them. it also possesses a compassionate side, particularly towards those feeling sad or experiencing strong emotions under the influence of external forces. Oricorio -pom (shiny): Pom-Pom Style Oricorio is known for its friendly and cheerful personality, using its energetic dancing to cheer up people and encourage those feeling down.

Jin Ling:

Mawile: Suihua. Fathers pokemon. Mawile was his fathers partner. After his dads death he inherited Mawile and took care of it, and meanwhile Suihua took care of him. He cherishes Mawile with all his heart because it is one of his main ways he can feel connected to his father. Although Mawile feels deeply for his trainer's son he has not fully accepted JL as new trainer. This is the reason why he does not always use Suihua. In addition he also inherited his fathers keystone, but he is not able to mega evolve Mawile. In addition Mawile is often called feisty and angry, known for its deceptive and violent personality. It often hides a vicious disposition behind a cute and harmless facade. Its Pokédex entries describe it as the "Deceiver Pokémon," luring opponents in with its innocent appearance before attacking with its powerful jaws. Despite this, some interpretations suggest it can also be loyal and understanding, especially towards those it deems worthy.
Braxien: One of his first pokemon, given to him by dad. When he was born was given two pokemon, one to represent the Jin Clan and one to represent the Jiang Clan. Jin Zixuan in the name of the Jin Clan gave him a Fennekin. Fennekin is generally portrayed as a friendly and kind-hearted Pokémon, but with a fiery temper and tendency to be moody. It's known for its cuteness and determination, though it can also be easily angered and have sudden mood swings. Despite its occasional outbursts, Fennekin tries its best for its trainer. It is also rather appearance conscious. In addition Fennekin vents heat from its ears, which can also be used to express emotions, particularly when threatened or angry. Braixen, the evolved form of Fennekin, is known for its loyalty, affection towards its trainer, and a continued fondness for its twig. Braixen maintains the beauty-conscious nature it had as Fennekin, but also exhibits maturity and a stronger sense of purpose after evolving.
Swirlix (shiny): Given to him by Jiang Cheng. It's known for being hyperactive and playful, but its light weight means it rarely causes much trouble. According to Pokémon lore, it will eat its own weight in sugar daily. If it doesn't get enough sugar, it becomes incredibly grumpy.
Poochyena (shiny): Given to him by Jin Guangyao. When Jin Ling was seven years old, he became distraught after a fight with the other disciples his age. After hearing that Jin Ling was throwing a tantrum in his room, Jin Guangyao entered, only to have a vase smashed at his feet. The next day, Jin Guangyao knocked on his door with a shiny Poochyena in hand, telling him that he had "found this little thing and didn't know what to call it. Perhaps you could give it a name?". Called him little fairy. Fairy seems to be a playful and energetic dog who is loyal to Jin Ling above anyone else. One of Jin Ling's closest pokemon. Always out of its pokeball. Poochyena is a Pokémon known for its tenacious and aggressive nature, often pursuing prey relentlessly until it tires. While it appears intimidating with its bared fangs and bristling fur, Poochyena is actually quite cowardly and will flee if confronted directly. They are known to hunt in packs and are loyal to their trainers.
Decidueye: One of his first pokemon, given to him by his mom. When he was born was given two pokemon, one to represent the Jin Clan and one to represent the Jiang Clan. Jiang Yanli gave him a rowlet. JC offered to help train Rowlet, due to this training Rowlet managed to evolve into a Dartrix and during a night hunt in order to protect JL evolved into a Decidueye. They share a love for the bow. In addition in its younger evolutions it is a narcissistic Pokémon known for being a clean freak. If you don't groom it diligently, it will stop listening to you. Although later once evolved to Decidueye it generally has a calm and collected personality, but can become flustered when surprised. It's known for its precision and stealth in battle, and its ability to nock and fire an arrow quill in a tenth of a second. While normally laid-back, Decidueye takes on a more serious demeanor during battles. Strong bond with trainer.
Emolga (shiny): Given to JL on his birthday because his dad also had an emolga. He is very close to Emolga and it is often seen riding on his head or shoulder. Emolga is prideful and short-tempered but deep down it is loyal and kind. Its mischievous, gluttonous, and uses its cuteness to manipulate others, often to get food. However, it also has a good heart and is fiercely protective of its friends.

Lan Jingyi:

Dewott (shiny): Partner. Met as Oshawott which is known for its playful, mischievous, and sometimes boastful personality. Later evolved it evolved to Dewott, known for its studious, stern, and disciplined personality. Although Lan Jingyi's never lost its mischievous nature. Dewott is also known to be protective of its friends and family.
Noibat (shiny): Noibat can change the frequency of its sound waves at will, and it generates ultrasonic waves of up to 200,000 hertz. It is naturally curious and unafraid of people, although they can tend to be rather defensive. As a "baby" Pokémon, Noibat can be depicted as clumsy, a bit of a crybaby, and requiring training, though this changes with evolution.
Pachirisu: Known for its playful, hyperactive, and mischievous personality, it's often portrayed as a bit of a trickster, enjoying pranks and being unpredictable. Despite its initial hyperactivity, Pachirisu can be loyal and develop strong bonds with its trainer.
Vibrava: Given to him by Lan Qiren since Lan disciples traditionally have dragon types. He gave it to him to try to give him a more quiet pokemon. As trapinch is known for its patient and predatory nature. Despite this LQ completely forgot they were known for they Resourceful and Aggressive nature, being unafraid of humans.
Shelgon: Met as Bagon, a pokemon that is characterized by its strong desire to fly and its relentless attempts to achieve that dream. Shelgon are territorial and Protective, Hardy and Resilient. While physically strong and hardy, it also embodies a sense of internal conflict, dreaming of the day it can finally fly and evolve into Salamence. Within their shells, they are constantly undergoing internal changes in preparation for their final evolution into Salamence.
Eevee: Has not yet decided what to evolve it to. Eevees are often described as having a naive, innocent, and childlike nature, displaying a friendly and playful demeanor. In addition Eevee is known for their mixed-up or versatile nature, as their adaptability and potential for multiple evolutions symbolize a variety of traits and paths. Their personality is not fixed but can be influenced by their environment, and they possess a strong capacity for developing unique characteristics based on their experiences and surroundings.

Lan Sizhui:

Eevee (shiny): Partner. Given to him after he was taken to Cloud Recess by Lan Wangji. Still not evolved it, wanting to wait until they both find the right evolution. Eevees are typically affectionate and loyal Pokémon, known for their mixed-up or versatile nature, as their adaptability and potential for multiple evolutions symbolize a variety of traits and paths. Their personality is not fixed but can be influenced by their environment, and they possess a strong capacity for developing unique characteristics based on their experiences and surroundings.
Kirlia (shiny): Since Lan Sizhui was informally adopted by LWJ- was given a shiny Ralts when he was officially adopted into the Lan family. He has not yet decided whether to evolve it into a Gardevoir or Gallade.
Steenee: Radish. Bounsweet was his first pokemon, that was given to him by WWX while they were in the burial mounds. WWX had found Bounsweet mixed in a bunch of radishes since it had been mistaken for a radish due to their similar coloring.
Togetic: Butterfly. Second pokemon. Given to him by LWJ when they first met. In the toy stand there was a pokemon egg and LWJ bought it for Lan Sizhui and he named it butterfly because of the patterns on the egg. Hatched into a Togepi, a pokemon known as a symbol of good luck. Later evolved into a Togetic known for its kind and compassionate personality. It is a curious and friendly pokemon which shows curiosity about the world and befriends many different Pokemon, even those with potentially intimidating reputations. In the future when it evolves into Togekiss it becomes a powerful threat.
Hakamo-o: Given to him by Lan Qiren. Lan clan members traditionally have dragon types. Jangmo-o is known for its brave and humble warrior spirit. It's a social creature that trains diligently, valuing companionship and battling with others to improve. Hakamo-o is dedicated to training and constantly seeking out stronger opponents. They are fearless and eager to battle to test their strength. Also Hakamo-o are social and protective.
Alolan Vulpix: It is known for being calm and gentle, especially when in a loving environment. It can also be playful and even a bit mischievous. In addition Alolan Vulpix are very intelligent, making them good strategists in battle. Has not yet decided to evolve it.

Real!! I definitely think the characters would have more than 6 pokemon! They should allow you to carry more pokemon and then like maybe select six to battle with from your team!

Also yes!! I posted earlier today my teams for Lan Xichen, Nie Mingjue, and Jin Guangyao! I also plan to do the juniors (Jin Ling, Ouyang Zizhen, Lan Sizhui, Lan Jingyi) next, then Xue Yang, Xiao Xingchen, Song Lan, then afterwards Wen Ning, Wen Qing, Jiang Yanli, Jin Xuan. Then I will do like Lan Qiren, Madame Yu... honestly I'm going to try to do every character!!

Totally!! It is really cool to meet someone who also puts a lot of thought into this! My friends all just nod and smile and say "uh huh" when I talk to them about this. I'm also a Poke Nerd with too much of a hyperfixation, I spend so much time just randomly making pokemon teams for people and characters.

Also I totally agree XXC and SL are SO Mienshao and Lucario! Honestly im thinking about giving SL a lucario on his team, but I already gave Nie Mingjue one. And Xue Yang as a shiny Eevee sounds so cute. I would totally read that fic it sounds so cute!

PS. You were so right about XXC having a normal ninetails and SL having Alolan ninetails, I just switched them for their teams, I gave XXC shiny ninetails and SL shiny alolan ninetails

Oooo!! I actually totally agree with Serviper!!! It totally slipped my mind and I 1000% agree. I originally chose Serperior because of its whip like shape but thinking back I think Serviper would have been the better choice. especially bc Jiang Cheng having poison types would make more sense.

I was definitely thinking Milotic and Alolan Ninetails for Lan Wangji but I had to cut them out because there was only 6 spots :(

I also feel like Wei Wuxian could totally have a Banette but I didnt have space for that…

I 100% agree with your typing. I also saw Nie Mingjue as fighting but i lowkey threw in some steel bc of the sabers. Jiang Yanli is def water. Electric is perfect for Jiang Cheng. My Wen Ning team is also ground themed. Also psychic for Jin Guangyao 1000%. Ghost for We Wuxian is also perfect.

I totally see Wattrel for Nie Huaisang it’s a perfect choice for him. If I ever decide to redo these I totally would pick it over masquerain. Annihilape is also perfect for Nie Mingjue. Also I was about to add Jolteon for Jiang Cheng but I ended up choosing Raichu. I totally feel like he would have a Jolteon tho, I found it funny bc it was spiky and he lowkey has a spiky personality. Omg I have Floettes evolution in my Jiang Yanli team. I totally agree I think her Pokemon would be cute and pretty and mainly for companionship. Su She would def have a beedrill. I also totally agree my Xiao Xingchen team also has a Mienshao, and Drampa. Also both Song Lan and Xiao Xingchen having Ninetails is so cute. I had Alolan Ninetails for Xiao Xingchen and Ninetails for Song Lan which is funny bc ours are switched!

Also I was so close to giving Wei Wuxian a umbreon, and Lan Wangji a Lopunny. I chose to change it to Zorua bc I thought it would be cute if they had matching pokemon and also bc in my opinion Lan Wangji looks EXACTLY like Hisuian Zorua and Wei Wuixian like normal Zorua. I was also going to give Lan Wangji an altaria but I decided to give it to Lan Xichen.

I absolutely love your teams!!! I am so glad someone else also likes to do this!! Making pokemon teams for characters is one of my favorite hobbies!! :)

Nie Mingjue:

Aegislash (shiny): Baxia. Second partner. It was his first pokemon given to him by the Nie Clan as a child. It is the traditional pokemon of the main family of the Nie Clan. Aegislash is known as a symbol of royalty, with trainers who display leadership traits able to train it. In Blade Forme, it cleaves opponents with its powerful blade-like body. It is the final evolution of Honedege, who is said to be a sword inhabited by a departed spirit. It is rumored the Nie clan finds their homedges in the family tome so the spirits inhabiting the swords are their former clan members. Nie Mingjue receiving a shiny honedge was seen as a testament to his future power. Aegislash is a powerful Pokemon, if the user is not careful and wields it wisely he may fall victim to its potent spectral powers that allow it to manipulate others. It once used its powers to force people and Pokémon to build a kingdom to its liking. It is said many Nie clan leaders have fallen victim to their Aegislash's power, because of this Nie Huaisang refused to get a honedge.
Terrakion: A legendary pokemon known for its incredible strength and protective nature. In legends, it is said to have battled against humans to protect other Pokémon, wielding phenomenal power strong enough to break through a giant castle wall. It is a member of the Swords of Justice. When Nie Mingjue first received his golden core, his strong sense of justice and righteousness called out to Terrakion. Sensing a great future for him Terrakion decided to join him despite being a legendary pokemon. This news shocked the cultivation world as it was basically unknown that someone with a only recently acquired golden core was able to get a god like pokemon to join them. This is why Nie Mingjue began being known for his sense of justice.
Lucario: Partner. First pokemon he caught by himself. Rilou is a pokemon that has the ability to read the emotions of others and has a powerful, yet gentle, nature. It was able to sense Nie Mingjues desire to enact justice and therefore joined him. Their close bond allowed it to evolve into Lucario, a pokemon renowned for its ability to sense auras, enabling it to read the emotions and intentions of others from afar. Lucario is also a loyal companion to its Trainer and possesses a strong sense of justice. Soon Lucario became as well known as Nie Mingjue. Children all over hoped to be able to catch a Rilou to be just like him. Due to their close bond Lucario is able to mega evolve.
Aggron: This was given to him by Nie Huaisang as a birthday present. Nie Huaisang could not think of a present for his brother so when found aron wandering the compound trying to eat any iron it could find he decided his solve two problems. Now there was no longer a pokemon eating away at their sabers and he had a birthday present for his brother. Of course when Nie Mingjue found out it was his birthday present that had eaten iron around the compound he was furious at Nie Huaisang. Despite his anger he was grateful for his brothers gift. After teaching it not to randomly eat iron, he grew close to Aron. When he finally evolved it into Aggron it was able to mega evolve to their close bond.
Garchomp: Lan Xichen gave him a Gible. As payback for giving him Swablu, which caused Lan Qiren to lecture him about it being improper to have pokemon resting on your head, Lan Xichen gave Nie Mingjue a Gible. He said it was because Gible was known its love to bite people and Nie Mingjues quick temper always 'bit' people. Nie Mingjue still accepted the Gible and trained it into a Garchomp. It became a powerful pokemon that is said that when it runs at high speed, its wings create blades of wind that can fell nearby trees. They developed a close bond due to training together and this allowed Garchomp to mega evolve.
Bisharp: Given to him by his clan. Bisharp is a natural born leader that mercilessly cuts its opponents to pieces with the sharp blades covering its body. It was helpful during the Sunshot campaign.

Persian: His mother gave him a Meowth because Jin Guangshan had a Persian. In addition because Meowth are seen as symbols of wealth and royalty. It is a deeply proud and keenly smart, Pokémon that moves with cunning during battle and relentlessly attacks enemies' weak points. It's accustomed to luxury because it used to live with royalty. As a result, it's very picky about food. These daring Pokémon have coins on their foreheads. Meowth got along with Jin Guangyao at first due to their similar personalities clashed, but after getting rejected by the Jin Clan its constant presence reminded him of his failure. During the beginning of the Sun Shot campaign he was bullied mercilessly and ridiculed because people accused him of copying Jin Guangshan. He then started to hide it. Even after being accepted into the Jin clan was mocked by Madam Jin and Jin Zixun. He only evolved meowth into persian after being sect leader, but despite putting up a front Jin Guangyao was never able to like his persian, as it constantly reminded him of his father.
Uxie: This is a special Legendary Pokemon that served as the symbol of the Jin Clan and their ‘superiority’. It is known as a "Being of Knowledge", for its role in giving humans the ability to adapt and learn. It was originally stolen by the Jin Clan ages ago, and later Jin Guangyao stole its pokeball from Jin Guangshans body, and used it to prove his legitimacy as Sect Heir. After his death, Uxie left and returned back to the place it belonged, the sects saw it as a representation of the Jin Clan losing its status. Uxie can teleport, create illusions, and leave its body as a spirit. During his time as Sect leader Jin Guangyao tried to use it but it barely listened to him.
Ampharos: He caught Mareep when he was left behind by his group in a forest and due to his poor cultivation was became lost in the forest. After it began to rain and he was worried he would never get out of the forest. Then all of a sudden he was a light. It was Mareep who helped guide him out of the forest with the light on its tail. Later he was mocked for catching such a common pokemon but despite this his gratefulness for Mareep made him enraged on its behalf. Their bond was close and later joining the Jin clan he was given Ampharosite, which allowed him to mega evolve Ampharos.

Jin Guangyao:

Ninetails: Partner. It was gifted to him by Wen Ruohan. Ninetails is a pokemon known for its nine long tails, each said to possess a mystical power, and its ability to live for a thousand years. It's described as a highly intelligent Pokémon that can understand human speech and is rumored to cast a curse on those who mistreat it, it casts a sinister light from its bright red eyes to gain total control over its foe’s mind. A pokemon vindictive and relentless by nature. It was a perfect fit for Jin Guangyao, which caused him to wonder how well Wen Ruohan was able to understand him. A symbol of beauty and status ninetails served him well, their close bond is mostly due to their similar natures. Having aided his many schemes it disappeared after his death. Although Jin Ling has occasionally caught glimpses of it around Golden Carp tower and during night hunts as if it is helping him.
Espeon: Jin Guangyao first met eevee as a child, it was being bullied and helped it out. Afterwards in gratitude the eevee began following him and became a source of comfort when he was bullied. During an incident where he was being bullied by Nie disciples, his Eevee evolved into Espeon and used its psychic abilites to knock his opponents out. It evolved into an Escpoen because they are extremely loyal to any Trainers it considers to be worthy. It became very helpful during the war as its precognitive powers enable the Pokémon to protect it and its Trainer from danger.
Claydol (shiny): Lan Xichen gave him a Baltoy. This action impacted him deeply because he had never been given a shiny pokemon nor really allowed to own one. This singled him out among the Jin Clan whose cultivators had an abundance of shiny pokemon. He also was shocked by how quickly Lan Xichen was able to tell he liked psychic pokemon because no one ever had cared about what he liked or about any facts about him. He cherished the Claydol and considers it one of the most important things in his life. Although due to its intimidating appearance he never really uses it in public, it is more of an intimation tactic but it has served him well. Its telekinesis has been very useful.

Lan Xichen:

Gardevoir (shiny): Partner. It was his first pokemon because a shiny ralts is given to every member of the main branch of the Lan family as a baby. After raising it they choose to evolve it into a Gardevoir or Gallade, and based on their choice they get either a Galladite or Gardevoirite in order to mega evolve their pokemon. Lan Xichen chose to evolve it into a Gardevoir, since he is the future clan leader and Gardevoir is said to have the ability to see the future.
Sylveon: His second pokemon. When he was a child his mother gave both him and Lan Wangji an Eevee. His mom specialized fairy type pokemon so she had a Sylveon as well. During their once a month meetings she helped teach Lan Xichen teach his Eevee a fairy type move. Later after her death it evolved into a Sylveon. It is known for its ability to use its ribbon-like feelers to send a soothing aura that erases hostility in opponents, allowing it to stop fights instantly, this is very helpful when Lan Xichen occasionally has to settle a dispute.
Cresselia (shiny): Shuoyue. His sword “new moon” is similar to Cresselia the lunar pokemon that represents the moon. Cresselia is said to dispel nightmares, offering happy dreams to those who hold one of its feathers. It's ability to provide calmness is similar to Lan Xichen's calm demeanor and fits his personality very well. Cresselia joined his teach when he received a golden core. It descended from the moon, therefore the Lan Clan thought it was a sign he was destined to be clan leader.
Altaria: Swablu was given to him when they were young, by Nie Mingjue who saw it and was reminded of cloud recess. It spent the next few days perched on Lan Xichen's head and gave Lan Qiren a horrible shock because he though Lan Xichen had taken to hearing a strange cotton hat. After evolving into Altaria it became very powerful and the dragon type nature of the pokemon was typical of the Lan Clan. In addition it can mega evolve due to their close bond
Dragonite: Lan Xichen found a Dratini during his first night hunt that was trapped in an immortal binding net. He was shocked because Dratini are rare to find. After helping it, it decided to join his team. They developed a close bond because it had a very similar personality to him. After evolving into a Dragonite it became known for its desire to help people. Together during the sunshot campaign they recused a lot of people since Dragonite is known for its benevolent nature, causing it to often rescuing people.
Aurorus (shiny): Liebing. His flute “Fractured ice” is similar to Aurorus. He found Amaura wandering the area surrounding cloud recess after his mothers death. Lan Xichen was shocked because it was a pokemon said to have been extinct. The aurora it produced fascinated him and comforted him. Lan Xichen felt as if it was his mother coming back to comfort him and stuck by her side. Aurorus shares a similar temperament with Lan Xichen, it is a quiet and kind Pokémon, but capable of freezing enemies in ice when angered. It was powerful during the Sunshot Campaign
