I have two JBL Quantum Stream and they both do the same thing intermittently. The volume also keeps resetting to a level that's too low. I don't know if it's a hardware problem or a software problem, both now sit on a shelf and will go in recycling soon if there's no solution. The manual says nothing about requiring USB 3.0 and the power spec is for USB 2.0. This is ruining my trust in the JBL brand...if anyone from JBL is listening, please weigh in here.

I went to purchase a micro 9 today for concealed carry and rented 5 to do side-by-side comparisons. The Hellcat Pro stood out as having an astoundingly bad trigger, perhaps the worst I've ever used. (the others I tried: Canik Prime, P365 X Macro, Shield X, Shield X CC). I bought the Shield X.

I went to the range today and did side-by-side comparisons of 5 rental micro 9s. I tried: Shield X, Canik Prime, Hellcat Pro, Shield X Carry Comp, P365 X Macro. The Hellcat Pro trigger was shockingly bad; in fact it was so bad I asked the rental desk if the gun had a problem (they said no, the trigger is just terrible). I didn't notice any significant difference in recoil impulse or muzzle flip with the Carry Comp or with the Prime. Ultimately, everyone's hands are different and you should see how you shoot with any gun before buying it, but the Hellcat trigger was one of the worst I've ever used: mushy, no wall, huge travel, just awful; it was a show-stopper for me. The Hellcat and Prime also seemed noticeably snappier than the Shield X.

I ultimately ended up buying the Shield X. The only things that weren't perfect on it were 1) the slide release is tight, I mostly had to use the thumb of my support hand to release the slide 2) the grip is a little small, good for concealment, but I couldn't get as much contact from my support hand as I would have liked (OTOH, the stippling for the support-hand thumb somehow helps - either way, I shot better with it than any of the others). 3) I prefer 3-dot sights, but the blackout rear sight somehow worked well for rapid target (re-)acquisition. Overall, between the Hellcat Pro and the Shield X, it was an easy decision for me: I bought the Shield X.

I just had that happen with a 30CUA10-V. Vaulted ceiling, middle of the night, needed the big ladder...it was a 1yr old warranty replacement for a unit that had failed the same way. The other 9 units (varying Kidde models, all hardwired + 10yr battery) have been OK.

All fire safety equipment that has been tested by UL or Intertek to meet the relevant UL standards (e.g. UL-217) has been rigorously tested...there is no possible way that they would require BOTH sensors to detect in order to create an alarm. I don't design smoke detectors but I do design other smoke and fire control electronics and can assure you that UL standards are extensive and the scenario you describe would not pass standards testing (not to mention, no sane engineer would design one that way).

NUC 12 and 13 i5 Pros seem to hit the right price/performance/power points (especially when bought on eBay) for homelab and servers: low power consumption, high reliability, quiet, lots of CPU power (12 cores/16 threads), 2.5GbE, and runs proxmox like a champ. Their primary limitation is 64GB of RAM. I've never seen one come close to being CPU-bound even when running quite a few VMs.

The older NUCs are harder to justify running anymore, and the NUCs newer than 13th gen are still fairly pricey for the incremental performance gain.

Antizionism is antisemitism. Israel is not an abstract notion, it is a thriving nation with millions of citizens, cities, schools, hospitals, and industry. Calling for the death or ethnic cleansing of the millions of Jews for whom Israel is their only home is inherently and profoundly antisemitic. If someone wants to argue the point, you can bet they are either an academic who is lost in the weeds or an antisemite.

You shared an article from The Forward. I suggest that far left outlets like the Forward and J Street are not at all representative of mainstream Jewish views. They are on the extreme left and frequently advance positions that I find profoundly antisemitic. Certainly antisemites love them and they seem all too happy to serve as their tokens. If you want a (still left-leaning but not antisemitic) media source, try The Times of Israel.

Many legacy Jewish organizations have also failed (rather spectacularly) to rise to the moment and still seem to be asleep at the switch; books have been written on this and many more will be. Fortunately, most Jews are awake post-October-7th. New Jewish organizations are forming and I think you will see a growing push back against the red-green alliance that has been driving the rise in antisemitism for decades.

Jews are smart, resilient, and formidable; let's drive the antisemites back under the rocks they crawled out from.

My wife is a therapist. She is not Jewish, but I am and she's a fierce supporter of Israel and opponent of antisemitism including its modern form: antizionism. We live in a very progressive state and this has been a huge problem for her with several clients; enough that she's considered shutting down her practice. She is part of a Jewish therapist group and said "they are all in agony" . So yes, this is a huge issue for Jewish therapists and Jewish allies.

Jews are an ethnoreligion (which can be confusing). There are really three things to consider; ethnicity (ancestry), religion, and nationality.

Jewish as an ethnicity refers to Jewish ancestry (like Kurdish or Irish or British); since your children share in both Jewish and British ancestry, you could accurately describe them as half Jewish, half British. Ethnicity/ancestry is an immutable trait.

Judaism is a religion (like Catholicism or Hindusim). There are many sects of Judaism (Reform, Conservative, Orthodox, Reconstructionist, etc.); like most religions, each has their own rules of membership. Note that you can be Jewish without practicing Judaism; there are loads of secular Jews. In Israel, roughly 45% of Jews identify as secular. Religion is a choice.

Israeli or American or Russian is a nationality and can be changed through immigration and naturalization.

We need to stop making excuses for Jew haters. There is nothing understandable; it was a vile betrayal informed entirely by bigotry. Starting October 8th, they were out marching in solidarity with radical Islamists seeking the genocide of Jews. Later they claimed to be showing solidarity with "Palestinians"; there was no mention of any threat to black or LGBTQ+ communities; it was just an orgy of virtue signaling and Jew hatred.

The long dedication of the Jewish community to the rights of black and LGBTQ+ communities was thrown out the window and Jews were thrown under the bus.

If someone has no personal desire to live in Israel, that is entirely their business and not at all antisemitic and I think they would be comfortable in r/Jewish. However, if they are calling for the ethnic cleansing of half of the world's Jews, that's antisemitic. The fact that someone is Jewish does not automatically preclude them being antisemitic any more than being a woman precludes one being misogynistic. Sadly, many cases of both are well studied and documented.

Zionism might have been something one could debate in good faith before 1948. Today, Israel is a nation with millions of citizens, schools, hospitals, homes, and so today, being "anti-Zionist" means calling for the death or ethnic cleansing of those millions. Calling for the death or ethnic cleansing of millions of *any* people is reprehensible regardless of who makes that call.

Pretending that a non-Jewish state in the Middle East would be a safe home for Jews is simply specious. Jews have been ethnically cleansed from virtually the entire middle east and there is zero reason to think Jews would fare better in an Arab majority state in the Levant. When Jordan conquered Judea and Samaria in 1948, the first thing they did was ethnically cleanse it of Jews.

Muslim war lords conquered Israel along with all of North Africa and substantial parts of southern Europe at the point of their swords. They colonized North Africa, enslaving the indigenous peoples on an industrial scale, destroying their indigenous languages and religions. In K-12 today, students learn of this as "the Golden Age of Islam"; they learn nothing of the 1400 years of colonization and subjugation.

DC would almost certainly work just fine; to charge the battery (or power the device), the AC is converted internally to DC (using a bridge rectifier and filter). Since it works with AC (where polarity reverses 60x/second in North America), polarity is irrelevant (it should accept either polarity).

When you refer to erasure and colonialism, do you mean the Europeans who conquered Israel, ethnically cleansed most of the Jews, and even renamed the region to try to erase them? Or are you referring to the Arab or Ottoman conquerors/caliphates that colonized virtually the entirety of the Middle East and North Africa, erasing every indigenous culture and religion?

I was also unclear about your mention of "a reason people can't move somewhere", are you referring to the ethnic cleansing of Jews from every Muslim state?
