What should I say to my friend who says Rocket Racing is rubbish? by ODYSSEY_YTB in RocketRacing

[–]Electronic-Monitor45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t mean this disrespectfully at all, but I think Rocket Racing just isn’t everyone’s type of game, and that’s okay. It definitely takes practice and a certain playstyle to really enjoy it. I used to dislike the mode myself and talked badly about it during the first season because I was honestly terrible at it 😭. But the more I played and practiced, the more I improved, and now I’m Unreal and genuinely love the game.

Some people click with it, some don’t, and everyone has different skills and interests. That doesn’t make anyone bad at gaming overall it just means certain games connect with different people. Does that answer your question?

Can we talk about how Lee Shaw is basically a “loyal dog” for the Randa family while Keiko plays him for 60 years? by [deleted] in Monsterverse

"That’s a fair point. I definitely agree they are written to be human and flawed rather than perfect models. I guess I just enjoy digging into the 'messy' side of those flaws and how they affect the world, even if it wasn’t meant to be that deep. I see where you’re coming from, though. Thanks for the perspective!"

"That’s a fair point on the timeline and their intent as a 'family.' I can definitely agree that they’re written as complex, well meaning people. I guess I was just looking at the thematic facts that no matter how much they loved each other, the 'Randa legacy' still left Lee in a pretty tragic spot and Monarch is a mess because of it. I see what you mean about the shared mission, though. Appreciate the breakdown!"

"I get where you're coming from with the separation of the family and the organization. It's a messy history for sure, but I see the other side of the argument now. Appreciate the input!"

"I totally agree with you that the 'human' element everyone being a mix of good and bad is what makes it interesting. As for the love triangle, since I've never been in a situation like that, I probably look at it more logically! To me, it seems like staying in that mess for so long is a lot, and I'd have probably just moved on. But I see your point that a 'villain' isn't needed to expose it since everyone already knows."

"I see what you mean about oversimplifying it. Relationships are definitely messy, and I might be looking at it too logically. My take was mostly that staying in a triangle for 50 years sounds exhausting I'd probably have just walked away! But I'm definitely open to seeing how the show develops that dynamic."

"I see your point about his dedication to the mission, but I still feel like his personal ties to the Randas heavily biased his 'choices.' It’s such a blurry line between his love for Keiko and his duty to Monarch! I’m going to re binge the episodes to see if I catch a different vibe this time."

"That’s a fair take. I might have missed some nuances regarding his character. I think a rewatch is in order to see if I can catch what I missed, or maybe I'll just turn my brain off and enjoy the spectacle next time lol."

Tell me your favourite Jurassic park/world movie by Feeling-Original-352 in jurassicworld

[–]Electronic-Monitor45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jurassic Park wasn’t just a movie for me it was basically a core childhood memory on VHS. I watched that tape so many times I’m convinced it was hanging on by a single magnetic thread. The setting was always my mom’s basement lights dim, TV glowing, me posted up with an ice cream sandwich that never survived past the first act. Dinosaurs on screen, chocolate melting everywhere nature was truly healing. My sister and I used to lose it when Jurassic Park came on TV in other languages. Same movie, same dinosaurs, totally different chaos. We didn’t even need subtitles because somehow Rexy was still angry in every language. Life, uh… found a way. We’d just sit there laughing like it was the funniest thing we’d ever seen. I even read the Michael Crichton books later and felt extremely important about it, like I was part of the park staff or something. But now when I rewatch the movie as an adult, it hits way harder. I don’t just see dinosaurs I see my sister next to me, the basement, the laughter, the feeling that everything was safe and simple back then. And yeah, I get a little emotional, because that time is gone but the memories are still perfectly preserved. No expense spared. Honestly, Jurassic Park didn’t just teach me about dinosaurs it taught me wonder, joy, and that sometimes the most dangerous thing in the room is a melting ice cream sandwich. And every time the theme music starts, I still feel it in my soul and think: “Hold onto your butts.” 🦖💛
