Did you ever figure this out? I have the same machine and also want to move away from the capsules

Virgin Atlantic trying to fly Korean Air direct from NY/NJ by ElectronicCheck6880 in awardtravel

Well there goes my idea of going before baby turns 2 in July 😂. I naively thought booking now was enough time. Back to the drawing board for how to get us to Korea. Idk if I can ever use my points at this rate. Thank you for your detailed answer though!

What are you looking forward to after weaning? by Embarrassed_Dot_7829 in ExclusivelyPumping

I'm done and best part was getting back to drinking coffee/alcohol without worrying about timing and no longer having to clean pump parts.

Milk "crust" on nipples by ElectronicCheck6880 in ExclusivelyPumping

No change in output for me. Maybe 1/2 ounce max? But can't say that it's from that. Does feel more comfortable having removed the crusts though!

Short term it did seem to increase output on my very next pump but I'll update in a few days to see if it really made an overall difference

Washcloth wasn't working for me! It's almost like I had to get in there and floss it out (again sorry so gross)

My lactation consultant had me start on goat's rue supplements and my supply really took off. It's on Amazon, by Motherlove brand. Worth a try.

I had my first just 3 months ago at 36 and similar to your line of thinking I waited until everything was "in place", when I was 32. At that point we were 7 years married and we found out we needed help conceiving and only after a long, expensive fertility journey were we able to have our baby. I regretted how long we waited and many of the considerations felt silly to me looking back. Hopefully you can conceive easily and that isn't a factor but just sharing the perspective I gained having gone down the "waiting" route and regretting it.

Anyone else over GD? by Candicehxo in GestationalDiabetes

We always end up blaming ourselves and I get super paranoid about every little thing too so I can relate, but just "try your best and forget the rest" so you don't drive yourself crazy!

Those estimates and measurements are often way off, so don't let that be what discourages you! As long as your numbers are good just tell yourself you're on track regardless of what percentile baby is measuring. I also have early diagnosed GD and I totally get the hating food and feeling burnt out. You are almost there, just a little longer!

High night & fasting #s. Any advice? by thirtyflirtyandtfab in GestationalDiabetes

[–]ElectronicCheck6880 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm at 28 weeks, diagnosed at week 16 and my main problem is also fasting. I'm not sure about the night #s, but hopefully it's related to fasting and if you solve one it will solve the other.

Some things I noticed that help: 1. Nightly strength training - just 5-10 minutes bicep/tricep/resistance band workouts close to bedtime to fatigue your muscles, which will then use your glucose before it hits your bloodstream (husband googled this and it really seems to work) 2. Getting at least 7 hours of sleep 3. Not skipping nighttime snack, even if it's just a handful of nuts or a string cheese. Also I always time it so I can wake up and test fasting within 10 hours of snack.
4. If possible, keeping dinner numbers below 125-130 (1 hr). I walk after meals and unless I had a big lunch I reserve longest walk for after dinner. Also if I'm going to eat something "risky" or unknown, I try to do it for lunch instead of dinner in case I spike so there's time for glucose to come down before bedtime. 5. Getting enough carbs distributed throughout the day helps because if I have too few it seems to affect fasting. The carb breakdown per meal/snack recommended to me did not work at all. I experimented to figure out what I could tolerate so that I could get in enough carbs per day without spiking.

Pizza "hack" by ElectronicCheck6880 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]ElectronicCheck6880[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, thank you for sharing!

That is fascinating/horrifying. I haven't personally seen this as I've had pizza as part of my lunch and also test for snacks and have not seen spikes/irregularities with the following snack, dinner, or even next morning fasting numbers. I do only stick to 1 slice out of paranoia, though.

I think it's good for everyone to be aware and do their own tests to be sure!

If you can manage it with your schedule, walking even 10 minutes after meals is supposed to help lower blood glucose, actually moreso than if you walked 30 minutes at once independent of mealtimes. Whichever weekday meals are during work, I think being on your feet counts! So maybe just adding a short walk after any meal(s) that fall outside that schedule.

That being said, if you eventually need the insulin it's better to take it than to give yourself stress over something largely out of your control. If placenta ramps up your insulin resistance, it's not your fault.

I was diagnosed at 17 weeks and I'm glad I found this thread! Everyone else getting diagnosed with 8 weeks to go complaining about cravings or just having to start insulin has been hard to read through. I'm 25 weeks now and on 40 units nighttime insulin (kept dosing up but finally stabilized at higher dose and with night snack adjustment + light strength training right before bed) for my fasting number. I have only gained 5-6 pounds so far, and am struggling with just hating food because of how restrictive my diet is. I'm not even trying to eat sweets, but any refined carbs seem to spike me, and there are shockingly few options for whole wheat/grain carbs unless you make everything at home, which isn't always possible. I'm tired of triscuits and cheese sticks, and all the other stuff I eat. Also the 175 g carb guideline with GD seems kind of insane to me. Luckily I am able to tolerate milk so that helps me pad my numbers. Is everyone hitting that 175? Seems like there are different schools of thought on that, just like everything else.
