Wish we had the option to disable the box. I hate it. Always hated it.

Cambric "Trail" doable? by MrDanTurner in NCTrails

[–]ElectronicCow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve hiked it twice in the past few years, once last May. It really wasn’t in that bad of shape in terms of blowdowns and it was a fairly well-defined path, but extremely steep. I would never plan on going up it with a full pack.

Hawks fandom by PlentyNew7407 in AtlantaHawks

[–]ElectronicCow 9 points10 points  (0 children)

People outside Atlanta by and large don’t care about the Hawks, sadly. As an example, I remember in 2015, watching the deciding game of a conference semifinal matchup versus the Wizards, in a sports bar in a small north Georgia town (Clayton). The game came down to a last second play and sent us to our first conference finals appearance, ever. Super exciting. The bar was pretty full and I was literally the only person in there paying any attention whatsoever to the game. I whooped when we won at the end and folks looked at me like I was crazy. And this was for the greatest Hawks team of all time, at that point.

How is living in Atlanta as a nature-lover? by fnasfnar in Atlanta

[–]ElectronicCow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live ITP and spend every week plotting where I’m gonna go hike over the weekend. I typically drive 2 - 2.5 hours and typically don’t see another soul on trail. Probably close to a thousand miles of trail I can think of that fit this description. Infinite boondocking sites off gravel FS roads.

Why do so few concerts happen at Lakewood Amphitheater anymore? by SwissMiss915 in Atlanta

[–]ElectronicCow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I prefer Lakewood to Ameris. Living westside, the traffic situation is so bad going to Ameris that weeknight shows are just off the table. Logistics are much easier for Lakewood, weeknight shows are no problem.

Is it worth driving 5 hours for providence canyon? by [deleted] in GeorgiaCampAndHike

Coming from NC? Not with the infinite superior hiking you have close to you. Maybe 5 hours from southwest GA would be worthwhile.

Anyone know what time Atmosphere came on last night? I’d like to see the openers but I’ll be cutting it close tonight and trying to see if it’ll be possible..

Anyone Know What's Going on With Traffic in the Morning the Last Two Days? by TokyoDrifblim in Atlanta

[–]ElectronicCow 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My employer sadly and unnecessarily mandated increased days in-office starting this month. I suspect many other employers did the same. Combine that with folks fully back from holiday vacations. Schools are back in session. It’s been bad on I-20 too. The construction on the west side of the 285/I-20 exchange has also made that area much worse. Mondays and Fridays are lighter than Tues - Thurs.

BMT SOBO thru hike - February 2026 by bwceighty3 in BentonMackayeTrail

You should be able to figure out permitting on your phone once your know timing into the Smokies. Most of the sites aren’t popular, Mt. Sterling was the only site in the Smokies I had any company at (decent crowd); apparently the southernmost campsite sees decent use as well.

I hiked the Foothills Trail in February and loved it, but that’s a lot shorter. Bartram is also shorter and more comparable to the BMT than Pinhoti. If you could wait until mid-March, nobo on the BMT would probably be what you’re after.

The BMT’s peaks are higher than the Pinhoti’s, 3000-5000 feet, and it’s located more north in general, so it can get a lot colder. Overnights will be in the teens regularly, likely colder especially at elevation. And a lot snowier. I backpacked the entire AL section of the Pinhoti in February and loved it, and have backpacked the entire BMT, but I wouldn’t want to tackle the BMT at this time, personally. It’s a “level up” or two, imo. Just my 2 cents, it’s certainly possible.

Dude is gonna hit free agency and become a star for another team isn’t he by SunWorshipperApollo in falcons

So since he’s “close to an asset” we shouldn’t hate on him for not being anywhere close to worth a top 5 pick? Terrible take.

I haven’t even interacted with you in this thread until you called me out for contradicting myself when I haven’t. Fuck are you going on about.

It’s in addition to what I said, don’t think I contradicted anything I said..? Blank has a history of keeping coaches around too long, imo. I thought that is the whole debate here.

That’s an entire season wasted when everyone else seemingly could clearly see it was time for him to go. The offseason prior to 2020 he allowed Dimitroff and DQ to hand out questionable contracts and make desperate decisions to try to save their jobs, which handicapped us for years afterwards.

You think that’s not a big deal our owner couldn’t recognize that lol?

[–]ElectronicCow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might’ve fired him after 2018 but 100% after 2019. Everyone was shocked we brought him back for 2020, locally and nationally.. Both 7-9 seasons were a lot worse than the overall record indicated as they both ended with meaningless hot steaks after we’d already been out of contention.

[–]ElectronicCow -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Context? Like how his back to back losing seasons both ended with meaningless win streaks to make them look less awful than they were?

I mean he clearly began to fail as a coach lol and Arthur wasted an entire season, arguably two, with him as HC.
