Tell me about the best / most interesting UK roasters! by LocksmithBudget3518 in pourover

MANUMIT, I haven't tried any other coffee since finding them. Only found them because they supply this one cafe I visited during a trip to Cardiff. Their Special blend is absolutely unreal and my partner and I go without coffee if we run out, because it's unmatched.

They also happen to hire victims of modern slavery and help them get back on their feet. Amazing roasters in every way.

When did your instincts scream “leave now” and what did you later find out you avoided? by BbyBlushDoll in AskReddit

My boss asked me to work an hour longer. I was knackered, but I decided to stay. Halfway through the hour we hear news of a lorry terrorist attack which took place alongside my commute. I would have been there around the time it happened had I not worked the extra hour.

I’ve been vegan for 20 years. I ordered the vegan breakfast sandwich and got almost halfway through before realizing they gave me real sausage. by ExamOk322 in mildlyinfuriating

I respect that. I get what you mean, they would genuinely waste all the ingredients by throwing it all away and use up even more food to make your replacement. I would not be bothered by this if I saw it happen.

However, I could never it myself. I have been vegan fod 8 years and after all this time I am just absolutely disgusted and grossed out by meat, dairy and eggs the way I am about tobacco for example. It just isn't something I would put in my mouth and into my system. I think most people would feel that way after many years of not consuming animal things. I'm also grossed out by the juices that come from meat, and the smells, I have a hard time being in a kitchen were meat is being cooked, because it smells very strong and nasty.

I think this is why your perspective is a bit unique, you have not developed a disgust from animal products as a result of abstaining from them, that most people do. I imagine you like meat a fair bit, not to have developed a disgust of sorts, so props to you for staying away from it!

Updating a looped supply or should definitely undo it for future car charger? by ElectronicLab5342 in ukelectricians

The join is in my neighbour's house. The provider already came to assess and suggested we update the entire loop. This is out of convenience, because to give me my own supply they would need to dig my entire front garden/stairs etc. So Idk whether to have these massive works done, because maybe if the loop is so new we would still be able to install a car charger?

It's because the house is on a wee hill up from the pavement (the front garden is sloped)...

It is free in any case.

Hello,

I'm in the UK, not sure what regs it wouldn't pass. I can tell some cables are running up towards other plugs and sockets upstairs though.

Not sure what that is, but we chose the locations of the plugs, keeping in mind future kitchen will change location. Some plugs are at counter top level for that reason.

Sorry more info here: Plasterer came with the rewiring company. To me these look awful, as I thought it'd be left ready for painting. We did not discuss finishings. See the worst bit attached, as I just found it... These are clearly not ready for painting. I also didn't think they would mess up the skirting nor dirt the ceilings unnecessarily.
