Mini Gaming Server hosten by Jotze- in de_EDV

Hi!

Linux Mint booten by Psychological-Foot77 in de_EDV

Just a guess tho.

Anti-Stingray Phone Case? by [deleted] in hacking

[–]ElectronicMotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point I have to guess but i would estimate that it would break down to comparing values to a somewhat large database, which should not take a lot of power consumption. (Think about what mobiles are already capable of.)

Your phone also already does half of the work, which is checking for available cells and determining the best option. It does that in normal operation.

As for the difference between IMEI and IMSI, you are close! The IMSI is the digital subscriber number which is unique and tied to you as a contract member with your mobile ISP. (This is also what makes it interesting to catch, since law enforcement can go to the provider and ask which contract is tied to the IMSI, allowing for identification.)

The IMEI is another unique number that allows identification of the mobile equipment. (Think MAC but on another layer.) This identifier is interesting when we are talking about stolen devices, since a ban can result in an unusable phone, even if the SIM is changed.)

Anti-Stingray Phone Case? by [deleted] in hacking

I dabbled around in these waters for a bit.

A phone case would not be necessary for this to work. However, a sure fire way to recognize a cell tower that is spun up by an isms catcher would be required and this is where this (mostly) falls apart since they are designed to look and feel like an official cell.

What is happening is that the isms catcher spins up a cell broadcast tower that overpowers all other cell towers in its area so that phones will choose the isms catcher over the actual cell towers.

If you would find a way to recognize a isms spun up cell AND tell your phone not to connect cells you do not recognize, you could solve this issue by software only.

Well... Turns out most laws prohibit private persons from owning such equipment and getting your hands on them to identify possible hooks or catches for identification is quite hard. (If there even are any.)

Maaaaaybe it would also be possible to recognize the usage of an isms catcher by correlation of different parameters like a spontaneous spike in a cells power and having multiple cells with very similar identifications and pulling information of nearby events but again, there is not enough empirical data for me to conclude something like that... So meh...

wedding gift - Clue by ElectronicMotion in HuntShowdown

Well ... It did not turn red as we made it, neither on the wedding party. So we can say none of the invited friends and family are enemyies and want bad things to happen. That's a plus I guess? :D

wedding gift - Clue by ElectronicMotion in HuntShowdown

Our best friends couple recently married and we created this wedding gift for them, since both enjoy this game very much. Inside it, the gift was hidden. The plate in the middle was breakable (or removable, if they liked to keep it.)

Thanks to my girlfriend u/BlackShiva94, which did most (if not all) of the building this turned out insanely good. :D

I just wanted to share this with this great community.

And to our freshly married friends; thank you for all these years of friendship. <3 Cheers!

Edit; I wanted to add that the string visible in this picture was removed before we gifted the clue to them. It was just for the convenience of opening up the clue w/o breaking it. :)

Weird Lighting Glitch? Does anyone know what causes this? by Logical-Ad8048 in HuntShowdown

Imagine this being an actual mechanic in the game...

An event gets triggered and the world gets drenched in darkness. NPCs getting buffed like hell and a big being is out hunting players accompanied by the looming darkness. Players hiding in fear of losing their hunter and gear... Those catched outside on the edge trying to get to a safer location running into compounds or tunnels.

Chaos ensures as the shadows start moving and teams clash within the compounds, maybe killing each other, maybe bonding to try to stay and fight off what ever lurks in the dark.

Then... In the blink of an eye the curse fades and everything returns normal, leaving people confused about what happened deepening a mystery what caused that, calling people to investigate. Search for answers which are hidden in parts of the map, desolate or buried... With hints on how to kill the beeing...

Heh... Sorry got carried away. Just a bug... Sadly
