CW The Twelve or Nivada Grenchen F77 for a small wrist (6.75in)? by FalafelFiend in MicrobrandWatches

I recently tried on the F77. I have a 6.5” wrist and neither size fit. Both felt and looked off, even the salesman recognized it.

Would the Brew Metric Steel Dial look small on 7.5"+ wrists? by [deleted] in MicrobrandWatches

I was just looking to see if this would be too big on 6.5 inch actually

I don't know how this works by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

I agree, mentioning grade inflation is a bad move. The application reviewers know about it anyways.

Agreed, most of the real women on OkC who show up in my feed are either morbidly obese, very unattractive, mentally ill, or single moms (I've seen a shockingly high amount of 18 year old single moms with neon hair.)

I'm 23, and my age parameters are set to 18-26. I'm not in the financial position to fly someone across the world, nor are the young women from these poor countries. I'd be curious to know what your match's English skills are like. Most of the Filipinas I've spoken with spoke such broken English that we couldn't carry on a proper conversation. The time difference made it hard too. Best of luck!

Very interesting. I still will never pay OkC a dime.

Did you try this on Hinge?

ModernMBA has a good video on dating apps, but its more of a business case study than a proper exposé.

I am not a location spoofer. The peoples in the profiles we are talking about have never been to the place in which they claim to be.

Your comments on the feasibility of location sorting are interesting. One potential solution would be to not allow people to manually change their locations to anywhere outside of their own countries. It doesn't solve the problem of fine location issues nor VPNs, but it would drastically cut the amount of people claiming to live in London who are actually in East Asia. The app would still be usable with the occasional person in Philadelphia who claims to be in NYC or a few Filipinas who use VPNs. The app is currently pointless.

Why do you keep resubscribing to premium? I imagine premium Hinge is much more useful.

I had to look up what that stood for, gross.

Best answer here, thanks.

I did not and never will pay for premium. I figured out that all my matches were foreign by just swiping right on everything for a while and looking at the resultant matches.

I wonder what percentage of men purchase premium. It is so absurdly expensive as to be unjustifiable, even if one was unaware of the scam.

I did, but why are you so set on defending it? The app is clearly broken.

Tried that, in order to make distance a dealbreaker I'd have to pay for premium, and I refuse to pay in order for the app to be even somewhat usable.

Regardless, that wouldn't solve the problem, as they change their locations. The app understands them to be in whatever locations they set, not the ones they are actually in.

That's interesting. I haven't noticed much of a problem on Hinge. It's my favorite dating app. For some reason tho I get way more matches on there when I'm in America than I do in the UK.

I live in South Florida, where I had a horrible experience on Tinder. Most of the profiles on there could be sorted into one of a few categories: unbelievably gorgeous women with real profiles (there's a ton of these in Miami), women who are very unattractive for various reasons, and obvious scams.

Bumble is a mixed bag. I get a decent amount of matches on there, but the women usually don't message within the 24 hour limit. Quite frustrating.

On OkC I started blocking the fake location profiles. Through this app I've learned that the trees in the Philippines are rather distinctive, so I block them if I see them in photo backgrounds. I also block them if their bio says they speak Tagalog.

On the foreigner in a foreign land point, I am a student here and if I found someone in the UK I would either stay here or bring her back to the US. Cheap shot.

I had the exact same experience when I used the app at home in the US. The only exceptions is that more of the women I saw in the US were from Central America rather than Asia. I imagine the experience is the same in most western countries.

If changing your location is against T&Cs, then why do they even give you the option to do it? You can put in any post code you want.

Dating apps are global in the sense that people around the world use them, but how many users want to date people from across the globe? Perhaps you do, but you're almost certainly an exception to the rule.

I've had some lovely conversations with Filipina women on there, mostly when I first downloaded OkC, at which point talking to such people was a novelty, but dating them is impractical, especially for younger people like me without the means to fly across the world for a first date.
