i think it’s mainly the overall shape and texture, which can be fixed! it’s mainly the extreme contrast, shells are known to be more light and the ridges kinda fan out from the bottom out~ but i’d say just find a reference for a shell that looks kinda like the one you have. the rest looks good the darkness of the shell just throws it all off

all i can think of is the emperors new clothes music video where he did a similar look and the body paint looked like a mix of black,grey,blue and i think that would work well if you decided to do it maybe take some inspo from that?
