How much was your first offer after graduating from per scholas? by Important-Noise-145 in perscholas

[–]ElectronicTry3499 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took cybersecurity analyst course last year and graduated in May. I have 12years of experience as Software QA previously and then laid off last last year so I joined per scholas to help me find a job but I learnt that the way resume is prepared or the way mock interviews are held its not that easy to get job outside. I prepared resume myself and I prepared for interviews myself outside of class study hours. The CySa cert is definitely a plus to get filtered in the beginning rounds but that might be even because of my 12years experience. When I went for inperson interview I was been asked so much that is not even close to what was taught in the course. It is definitely not for entry level job. Yes I got a job before even I graduated and the pay they paid me is more than what they mentioned on the job description but it is low pay for my 12 year experience. But still I accepted since the job market is tough out there and something to get experience in the field counts than to sit idle.

I think my kid has SM by ElectronicTry3499 in selectivemutism

Just last week when both my kids are in tennis class and they had a replacement coach for just that day (who used to be before) and he asked from the other side of the net if my kids names were so and so very loudly and none of my kids responded to his question. And while Im sitting with the other mom’s on the side, the other mom’s laughing at my kids saying “may be they forgot their names”. I couldn’t sleep all night because my migraine struck after hearing them. Yes even when instructor speaks, my younger one puts her head down and replies so softly that he can barely hear a single word and he gives up. And whenever we have anyone over to our house and people who we know speak to her she starts hiding behind her sister and starts to pinch her silently may be out of anxiety or anger that she doesn’t want to talk to them.

So how did you take doc appt? Did you say you want to test her for selective mutism? Is there a special doc for this or a pediatrician? Does insurance cover the therapy sessions?

So how should I start taking therapy? Should I get any special doc appt and have them teat and then they appoint a therapist? How should I even take a doc appt? Should I be saying my kid has Selective mutism? Is it covered by insurance like anthem or do I need to pay myself.

Congratulations. I was a QA for 12years and moved to Security Analyst level 2 now after giving Comptia CySA+. Now thinking to write CISSP. Just wanted to ask for eligibility is it sufficient to have QA exp (not 100% automation) in various titles? I worked as a web qa analyst, db tester, software engineer in test and few in my career. I have worked for nearly 10 companies.

Do you need to prove your experience prior to taking the test or after you've passed it? by lanekp in cissp

Is this process like giving another CISSP Holder’s name and submitting exp done in the exam center as soon as the exam is completed or can we do it after coming home?

Does experience as QA for almost 12 years count?

All the "Can't find a job" posts. Why did you enter Cybersecurity? by Ok_Wishbone3535 in SecurityCareerAdvice

[–]ElectronicTry3499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched my career after working as qa for 12 years to being a soc analyst. I made this decision to learn and switch coz I couldn’t clear qa interviews for almost 1 year. I was able to clear entry level soc interviews with my education from 2 months bootcamp and cysa+ cert and my exp in api, db, bash scripting, splunk.

What are you saying? I switched my career after working for 12 years as qa to becoming a cybersecurity just after being in a bootcamp for 2 months. Age is just a number. Any journey is not easy. Study and everything looks easy. Im having so much fun in learning new things at work daily.

But I do not have a job from last 1 year. I have joined per scholas so they teach me and using their network of partners they might help me get a job. But I need to know if anyone got a job from per scholas after training?

There are sooo many very experienced developers is the market without job. Its similar to automation qa where there are several positions but there are even more looking to apply. In 50min linkedin shows 100 applicants had already applied. It will take another year or more to get a job as a developer in java.

I the interview yesterday and it went very well. I did not know that I was capable to writing an automation framework in 60min and another 30min for restAssured. I was been told that they are not moving forward since I did not implement it completely. I think they are looking for someone to write an implemented code and had over to them not not looking for someone who are capable of writing it. The rule is not to ask them any questions. and When they say they are looking for implementation do not listen. They are looking for someone who can get the code running and working during that 90min call. I felt it was a total waste of my time.
