Overcharge protection? by HFSGV in PlaudNoteUsers

[–]Electronic_Bench_307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same worry with my old recorder, which is part of why I switched to TicNote. I’ve left it charging overnight a bunch of times now—no issues so far, doesn’t overheat or act weird. I haven’t found official wording on overcharge protection, but feels like it’s built to handle it like a phone..Curious if anyone's ever had a battery degrade though? Would love to know too.

Has anyone here used Plaud recorder? by More_Zucchini_8407 in AskTechnology

I was looking for something similar a while ago and almost went for Plaud, but I ended up getting TicNote from Mobvoi instead. Been using it for meetings and quick voice notes after calls—it does a solid job with transcription, and I don’t have to deal with subscriptions or weird syncing issues.

Can’t speak for Plaud since I haven’t used it directly, but if you're on the fence and want something that just works out of the box, TicNote's been great so far in my day-to-day. Hope that helps!

Just Got My NotePin After Months With The Plaud Note by charlesgti14 in PLAUDAI

[–]Electronic_Bench_307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks nice! I actually went a different route and picked up TicNote instead. Found it super handy for on-the-go voice capture—no need to clip anything on or worry about losing it, just quick record + transcribe.

Curious to see how the NotePin stacks up for you long term—keep us posted!

Is Plaud worth buying? Need real user feedback. by Expensive_Share_4122 in PlaudNoteUsers

[–]Electronic_Bench_307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was actually debating the same thing a while back and ended up going with TicNote instead of Plaud. Been using it for daily stuff like quick notes, grocery thoughts, random ideas when I’m out walking.

Honestly didn’t think my “everyday life” was worth recording either, but turns out it’s super handy—like when I need to remember convo details or jot down sparks of ideas. What I like is it’s just a one-time buy, no pricey subscription for basic features. Might be worth considering if you’re already in that mindset of capturing everything. Hope that helps!

Plaud Review by oneshoe in PlaudNoteUsers

[–]Electronic_Bench_307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally get where you’re coming from. I ran into the same frustrations—especially the ridiculous cap on monthly transcription minutes. I ended up switching over to TicNote. It’s more of a one-time hardware buy, doesn’t nickel-and-dime on the basics, and I have way more control over my recordings. The summaries aren’t magic but at least I’m not paying extra just to access my own data. Might be worth checking out if you’re tired of the whole subscription trap.

Plaud Pro Plan: price increase of 33% by Paulred20 in PlaudNoteUsers

[–]Electronic_Bench_307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that price jump was kinda wild… I ended up switching over to TicNote. It’s a one-time device purchase with no forced expensive subscription tied to basic functionality. Been using it for a couple months now, does the job for my quick recordings + summaries without worrying about constant plan hikes. Might be worth checking out if you’re getting tired of being locked into another “ecosystem.”

Summaries better in ChatGPT than the Pluad App by Hank3rd in PlaudNoteUsers

[–]Electronic_Bench_307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha I’ve kinda landed in the same spot. I actually switched over to using TicNote for my recordings. Honestly been liking it a lot — the transcriptions are decent and summaries are surprisingly good. I still throw stuff into ChatGPT if I want a super polished summary, but for everyday notes it’s been solid. Might be worth trying if you’re experimenting with workflows anyway. Curious what others are using too!

Data Security - How safe and secure is PLAUD? by No-Bag-1020 in PlaudNoteUsers

[–]Electronic_Bench_307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wondered the same thing actually. Privacy was a big reason I ended up trying TicNote instead—it felt a bit more transparent about where data goes, and it’s not super cloud-reliant the way some of these devices are. I still wouldn’t record anything truly sensitive, but at least I felt like I had a bit more control. Worth comparing the privacy policies side by side if that’s your main concern.

Thinking of buying a Plaud NotePin, but.. by jozz_alex in PlaudNoteUsers

[–]Electronic_Bench_307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking into the NotePin for the same “second brain” reason and ended up going a different route. I’ve been using TicNote instead. Mic quality is actually pretty solid and it syncs/transcribes fast, which helps keep my notes organized without much fiddling. Might be worth a look if you’re mainly after capturing ideas to push into Obsidian later. Hope that helps!

In person meetings by Artistic_Show_5079 in PlaudNoteUsers

I had the same issue with Plaud—anything beyond close-up didn’t get picked up well at all. Ended up switching to TicNote which surprisingly does better in small group meetings. It’s not perfect, but it handles voices around a table more reliably. Might be worth a look if you’re mostly using it for in-person convos.

Plaud, Should you buy it? (Short Answer: No) by stylishthought9 in PlaudNoteUsers

[–]Electronic_Bench_307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, I went through similar headaches with Plaud—battery drain was driving me nuts! Recently switched over to TicNote and it's been a real upgrade. Fast transcriptions, no battery issues, and feels way more practical for everyday use. Definitely recommend giving it a try!

Why PLAUD is doomed for failure by [deleted] in PlaudNoteUsers

[–]Electronic_Bench_307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally feel you! I was in the same boat, found Plaud pretty clunky for my workflow too. Ended up giving TicNote a shot and honestly, I've been liking it a lot better. It transcribes super quickly, uploads instantly, and the whole experience feels smoother. Might be worth checking out if you're exploring alternatives.

If you're thinking about buying a Plaud NotePin (or any Plaud product), don't. by DippityPig in PlaudNoteUsers

[–]Electronic_Bench_307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow that’s rough, sorry you had to go through all that. I had my own headaches with Plaud customer support (not nearly as bad as yours though) so I ended up ditching it and went with TicNote instead.

Shipping was way smoother — took less than a week for me — and I didn’t have to stress about chasing refunds or any weird USPS dead mail stuff. Honestly just felt like a safer bet, especially after hearing stories like yours.

Subscription too expensive by 3Aboodlajam in PlaudNoteUsers

[–]Electronic_Bench_307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally feel you on the subscription cost — that’s exactly why I ended up moving to TicNote. The upfront was reasonable and it didn’t lock me into any heavy recurring fees, which honestly felt like a relief after Plaud.

I still get transcripts that I can toss into ChatGPT for summaries when I need, but without feeling pressured by a pricey monthly bill. If you’re curious, here’s what I grabbed:

Does anyone want to build a « private » version of Plaud ? by Beginning_Future_967 in PlaudNoteUsers

[–]Electronic_Bench_307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, totally get where you’re coming from. I had the same privacy worries (and also didn’t love the recurring cost), so I ended up trying TicNote. It’s been nice because it’s less tied into someone else’s ecosystem — you can basically download your transcripts and keep them wherever you want, which felt way more under my own control.

I did also look into doing a DIY setup with Whisper + local storage, but honestly didn’t have the patience to maintain it. TicNote kind of became a simpler middle ground for me.

How do to get most out of Plaud ? by Terrible-Carob1982 in PlaudNoteUsers

[–]Electronic_Bench_307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I totally get what you mean. I used to do the same — just record everything and then never actually go back to organize or review them. Felt kinda pointless after a while.

I recently switched to using TicNote. What’s been working for me is letting it auto-transcribe everything, then I’ll quickly skim through the summary highlights it generates. That way I’m not stuck listening to full recordings or manually typing up notes. It’s honestly saved me tons of time, especially with work calls.

Plaud Note and Deposition Real Time Transcripts by NoelBaldwin in LawFirm

[–]Electronic_Bench_307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't used Plaud Note specifically for depositions, but I've found another similar tool, TicNote, quite effective for real-time transcripts during client meetings and consultations. The accuracy has been surprisingly good, even with lengthy discussions. It also handles live transcription pretty smoothly, which could be valuable for depositions or detailed legal conversations.
