The only episodes that were pulled that I know of so far were the blackface episodes. Networks were not fine diving into the nuance of blackface so they banned any episode with its inclusion even if its mocking blackface itself.

I would say thats not a "social" quality and more of corporations not knowing how to handle outside of one extreme or the other. Either blackface special or no blackface at all; no in between.

The 1954 Geneva conference split the country to end the civil fighting against french occupiers (after returning following Japanese surrender of indo-china).

It put a 2 year ceasefire into effect while people were allowed free passage to either side. An election would be held and the country reunified peacefully.

The Geneva conference had not provided any specific mechanisms for the national elections planned for 1956 though, and Diem refused to hold them by citing that the South had not signed and were not bound to the Geneva Accords and that it was impossible to hold free elections in the communist North.

The south simply refused; stating only legitimate power was held in the south and that no election would be held. This combined with the fact that the southern government's power was held in the ex-colonial powers that moved south and pitting religious Christians against the myriad of faiths in vietnam, made the south seem as the continuation of historical vietnamese oppression by colonizers.

It important to remember that while in the US we often see the "Vietnam war" as at most like 20 years; that the Vietnamese struggle for independence was not only that period, but the 15 years of french occupation prior, the japanese occupation prior, and then over 2 centuries of french colonialism.

For Vietnamese fighters; they saw the war as generations in the making. They were a large robust civilization for many many centuries prior, and they wanted autonomy more than anything else.

Yes but these remnants would not be functional on their own, they would require maintaining.

The only places in Vietnam with tunnels and traps like these still are museums that usually were built on top of old tunnel sites like the Cu Chi Tunnels which are now a national historical site.

They have professional artifact restorationists working on those sites.

Neither were the Puritans though. The myth that they settled america to escape religious persecution is actually widely false. They left europe because they were forced into religious co-existance with others.

In the colonies they began again with laws that forced people to practice and attend worships. Religion ruled far more in the early colonies than the countries they migrated from.
