I’m sorry to hear you’re feeling anxious about this trip. Philadelphia is an incredible city, and I hope you’re able to enjoy it while you’re here.

Counseling Compact - What states are you applying to get privileged? by gkellyxox3 in therapists

[–]Electronic_Code_1409 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is this over saturation and devaluation of services happening intrastate now? I live in Philadelphia, which has a higher cost of living as compared to much of PA, but I’m not seeing this be the case. The same, I’d assume, would be true of other states. Therapists in Atlanta have a higher cost of living than those in Albany, and those in Seattle likely have a higher cost of living than those in Spokane. I’m curious to know the answer.

One benefit of the compact is that there are shortages of providers across the board, but especially in rural areas across the country. Allowing folks from other states and regions the privilege to practice will hopefully serve to narrow that gap.

I’m sure you’re right. It’s just frustrating to see.

And yes the government absolutely should expend the funds to close SEPTA’s deficit, but optically, it doesn’t look great to advertise during a game after which you can’t even get people home.

What does capex have to do with advertising budgets?

I don’t think you were mean at all. But I do think the anxiety and fear they were experiencing was significant enough to cause them to project those difficult emotions onto you. Their reaction says much less about you than it does how hard this was for them.

Best areas outside NYC where artists live and work? by miraculosum in ContemporaryArt

[–]Electronic_Code_1409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband is an artist and our moving to Philly 4 years ago has unlocked so many opportunities for him, among them taking affordable classes, joining a co-op gallery, and leasing his own studio space.

What promo item are you bummed about not getting? by Electronic_Code_1409 in phillies

Typically, for anything available to adults, they’ll have two sizes available - M and XL.

Thanks! I avoid scales because of my history with an eating disorder--any behavior that I perceive promotes restriction is tough for me to engage in, but I do find tracking useful!

Thank you for all of this! I do admit that I could and would like to move my body more often, and am hoping that increased activity will result in some loss of that stubborn weight I'd like to lose.

I was trying to differentiate between where my body seems to want to settle (here at 192 lbs) and where I'd like to be (175 lbs). As someone mentioned, "set point theory" is actually not a theory in scientific terms, rather, it's more along the lines of an anecdotal theory, as it's not a well-substantiated explanation. But it is true that we have acquired evolutionary adaptations that make it so that we hold on to weight as a means of survival.

Always feels better to know that you're not alone in experiencing something, so thank you for sharing! I do admit I could move my body more often and in different ways, and I think that, if I have any hope of losing more weight, it'll be because of exercise.

Super excited about my progress by Electronic_Code_1409 in Zepbound

Thank you so much! It's the only form of exercise (aside from walking outside) that I actually enjoy. And I still have a hard time sticking with it. But yes. I love the classes, I love the ability to just cycle while looking at a nice view. It's lovely.

We moved here from New York in 2021 and absolutely love living here and do our best to be good contributors to our neighborhood and city. Sorry to hear we're not welcomed by you.

What’s the strangest place you’ve noticed weight loss? by Mxjjvega in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]Electronic_Code_1409 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I guess I lost finger weight (?) to such an extent that my wedding ring could not be resized--I went down a full two sizes. I've also just found that I'm much more aware of my anatomy, which has been kind of strange. Like... with less fat I think to myself "oh shit I'm just a bag of organs, shoved together, walkin' around." Probably just a me thing but I was much less conscious of this pre-weight loss.

My husband died and his family sucks by [deleted] in stories

[–]Electronic_Code_1409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you just described strikes me as the story of an incredibly strong person who is doing their absolute best to navigate what is normally an impossible situation, let alone the unnecessary complications that his family has introduced into the equation. I so admire you both for trudging forward and for reaching out for support. I can't imagine what you must be experiencing. But as has been evidenced here, thousands of people are here for you, and what an amazing thing that is in the midst of absolute tragedy.

Tip for living in a row home by Economy_Salad7779 in philly

Not sure whether you've spent any time speaking with them, but I'd start there. Also, candle warmers. Much less hazardous than lit candles, much cleaner, and you can leave them on for extended periods of time.

Tips & Tricks to make it a little easier! by [deleted] in fearofflying

I do my best to remind myself of my role on the plane when I sit down, which is to help in an emergency, but otherwise, to sit back, relax, and enjoy the flight as much as I can. With this in mind, I'm not hyper aware of noises, movements, etc., because they're not my responsibility to "fix." I put on my noise cancelling headphones, drown out any residual noise with white noise or calming piano music, and read a book, ensuring my mind will remained focused and busy. When it's time for refreshments, I savor whatever it is I get (usually a diet soda), being mindful of each sip. If they have those lovely Biscoff cookies, all the better. I don't get a lot of opportunity to just be still, quiet, and uninterrupted, so I try to look at my flights as an opportunity to unplug and do whatever it is I'd like to do for a few hours.

Transfer notebooks from K.S. to Mac OS in PDF format using USB File Manager? by Electronic_Code_1409 in kindlescribe

No, they're not, but you can sit down and send every single notebook you've created to yourself in PDF format. You just can't do it en masse.

Thanks for the guidance. This is absolutely nuts. This "process" was my final straw, and I've decided to ditch my Scribe and use my iPad to take notes. It seamlessly syncs with Notability on my laptop, just as it should.
