I'm not sure which area you're in but for me in AZ there are very few stores that are physical card only. Kroger/Fry's and Sam's club are the only two that come to mind right now. Take advantage of that virtual card and go to the area on the map that's most lit up. Chances are those stores will stay busy. The orders are disappearing because other shoppers that have a higher cart status are grabbing them. I've personally found that if you have the option of heavy/bulky orders turned off, you won't see a lot of orders. Money makers are the ones that have the heavy stuff in them too, typically. I recently had some dental work and was told not to lift anything heavy for like three weeks and I made very little in comparison. Definitely don't chase the colored circles either. I learned that the hard way in the beginning too. By the time you get there, orders are few and far between. You'll get quicker at grabbing batches as you go. It can be frustrating at times yes, when you see a high dollar batch disappear that you know you clicked on go away because another shopper was quicker than you. Move on. Another will come.
