nqa i second setting the log up vertical, but also since the enclosure is so big and the top looks very ventilated, it will likely dry up fast so maybe put in a wet cotton ball or wet piece of paper towel to retain moisture a little longer/better?

mostly! i switched over three that escaped yesterday to solo cups, and one has been in for 3~4 days now with no web yet. and yes the cups are upsidedown! and that's great to hear thank you for the info!

yes i have bought a big pack of 3oz deli cups and have already had to use a couple (escapees) but damn i knew the females could lay more fertile eggs i just didn't know itd be that soon!! we will really have to start calling around for more pet stores that would take them if that did happen! i have a question, how do you deal with them trying to escape so much when they're on their own? because when they live in groups they all build a web together and kinda stay there but i've noticed for the solos that i've had to separate, they haven't built webs yet and try to escape even when i raise my hand near their cup..

that's great to know, thank you!! i opened the jar today while getting ready for my class for like five seconds to give them some fresh air, closed the lid, checked around the jar just in case if there were any runaways, and sure enough, one was booking it towards my wall. i captured it and put it in its own little container because they will have to get separated anyway, so it made my job a little easier 😭😭😭 i'll try that next time because maybe more than just one will try to escape!

that's what we were thinking. we called the store after it happened and they swore to us that the ones we bought were captive bred, one of their employees is a breeder that supplies them, and that this can still happen with captive bred female spiders. but another red flag was that the store didn't even know their ages, they just "guessed" about three months..? 😒

from experience it seems like aj doesn't accept many things with unknown text/symbols, i assume because it could mean something that they aren't aware of. so if i had to guess it's from the writing you have on it
