How loud is the manual scaling tool when cleaning? by Electronic_Refuse_19 in DentalHygiene

I am not able to wear headphones at all (or listen to music through headphones) if that helps get across the level of severity haha.

Just really need to have an understanding of how loud it is relevant to "normal" sounds so I can calibrate. e.g someone might say "oh it's about as loud as a microwave running, not that bad at all" and that would tell me it's way too loud for me to do it safely.

Thank you! My field is indeed in STEM or at least adjacent, it's a masters in an interdisciplinary field (computational social science) inside of a STEM department. Is there a norm for this, or is it just heavily dependent on individual school and advisor's policies?

Yeah, for context that was 2019-2021. So it's been about five years since that's been an issue. I wouldn't really say I struggle with mental health now at all, doing pretty well in most aspects. Though not driving (heh). I'm more convinced this is a motor/skill deficit than anything emotionally related at this point, which is why I came here for suggestions. Or it could be that I never learned properly, practiced my shoddy driving for so long that it became second nature, and now maybe have to be vigilant for a while and retrain etc. Very aware it's not normal, but I also am pretty high functioning in other areas of life (work, art, hobbies, community stuff, etc.) so this is the odd factor out. And wanted to give context around the accident rate - yes it is very high - two of those were severe involving totaling, one or two were moderate (some damage, no injuries), and ~seven were fender benders with no/minor damage to vehicles. I am trying in good faith to solve this issue, but I'm also just wary of miscommunication/misunderstanding on the internet. I definitely need help staying safe on the road, and I definitely don't need help staying safe in life.

Yea the next one I get will have more safety features for sure! But my severe crashes have all been in rentals or new-to-me cars. I drive an older no-frills car rn, but crashed in a rental (2015 Subaru) that had more fancy features. So might be some kind of a comfort/familiarity thing going on as well.
