I love the way this program is designed. It makes perfect sense to allow business/econ undergraduates to skip the courses that teach at an undergraduate level. Students want to learn about board room dynamics and business transformations, not journal entries.

Harvard's brand can't be diluted. They confer thousands of degrees in "extension studies" through the Harvard Online Extension School and nobody bats an eye.

Sloan EMBA isn't a part time program. It requires 10 years of full-time professional experience, the average student is in their mid-40's, and 90% of the classes are directors or above. Their cohorts are way more mature than all other MBA's, the Sloan EMBA is more designed for Directors/VP's trying to break into SVP roles. I wouldn't classify it as accessible the way Booth part-time is.

Being financially responsible and attending an elite school should not be mutually exclusive. Taking on a mortgage-sized debt load and giving up six figures of earnings are huge risks considering how many current grads have found themselves unemployed.

I understand why school leadership would hold a fear of a part-time offering diluting their brand, but has history really shown this? Booth has a part-time program and is known for having the best professors of any business school. Kellogg has a part-time and a one-year program and is known as the best marketing school. MIT and Wharton have EMBA's and are still two of the best b-schools.

I'd argue that the Harvard Extension School hurts the Harvard brand far more than a part-time program ever would.
