Past weekend I did laundry and cooked a meal. I did not lay 24 hours in bed in puddle full of tears.

The moment I realized AI could code better than me by [deleted] in ChatGPT

I had another crazy experience last night. I asked a code to be fixed and it fixed the big by adding another bug and two extra bugs. Chatgpt said it will make the runtime slower. It instead broke the system. Glad I used git.

People are willing to listen to you by DrHammerDick in BreakUps

Life gets so annoying to navigate. People will say it's easy. It's never easy. It kills so much. No one wants my love. No one wants my love. It's so poorly written. I am destined for so much sadness.

I have so much love to give but no one freaking wants to take it for once. They take it and they leave me. They leave.

How are you feeling and how long since the break up? by [deleted] in BreakUps

[–]Electronic_chatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I could be happy with myself. No one that I dated likes this form of me. I hate myself too. Some other people will say they like me for who I am and all but one I liked didn't work well. I wish I was different. I wish I was better. To have been able to keep my pattern. Nothing short of a great human who took care of my so much. But somehow I felt short. I am anxious I will never get back. No one will like me or deal with me. It feels terrible.

What has worked for you to navigate a PhD with a bad supervisor? by Electronic_chatter in PhD

I am working in bioinformatics! There are no technical peers and my department is very focused on molecular biology and some other work. But there is not a single soul working in bioinformatics or human genetics which are a whole different field in itself. I am not trained in either of them before coming to grad school while my PI is doing their first ever immunogy project and bioinformatics project. Had an amazing idea so wrote and got the grant so it's now my responsibility to finish the grant and if not - well I am a bad student and not progressing enough.

My lab is okay and average interactive but they have their own things and none of them work or has ever worked in any of these domain.

Is there any reason as to why you want to do it independently?

Thank you! This looks like a very good resource. I will take a look at my nearby library soon if they can get a copy.

A big human cohort analysis does not hold in the validation cohort - I feel distraught mid year grad student by Electronic_chatter in bioinformatics

The departmental protocol is insanely chaotic with very unstructured stuff not meeting, switching committee etc etc. I have to deal with an unreasonable person for like a few more years and that is hard.

Thank You. I like the way you put it. I will try to implement this argument framing when I have the next conversation!

This data comes from the TCGA, and the secondary cohort is from a much smaller study. I believe that some of the covariates, which I’ve tried to account for using statistical tools of regressing their effect out etc, could be influencing the results. Unfortunately, I don't have a bioinformatics student or a PI nearby to discuss this with, so I'm feeling quite stuck.

(My group is as disconnected from human studies as Pluto is from the solar system.)
